The CBSE will hold the Class 10 and Class 12 Board exams in 2025, starting on February 15. Around 44 lakh students from 204 subjects will take part in these exams. To make sure everything goes well, students must follow the rules set by CBSE. If students break any rules, their exam may be canceled for one or all subjects, depending on the seriousness of the violation.

Students should avoid doing anything that can harm their academic progress. It’s important to read the Unfair Means (UFM) rules carefully and understand the penalties for breaking them. Students must also check the list of items they can and cannot bring to the exam hall.

This way, they will not bring anything they’re not allowed to, either by mistake or on purpose. They should also know the dress code and which items are allowed.

Permitted & Prohibited Items
Before entering the exam center, students will be checked. Here’s a list of items that are allowed and not allowed:
Allowed Items:
- Admit Card & School ID Card (for regular students) or Admit Card & Govt. ID (for private students)
- Stationery: Transparent pouch, Geometry/Pencil box, Blue/Royal Blue ink pens, Scale, Writing pad, Eraser
- Analogue watch, Transparent water bottle
- Metro card, Bus pass, Money
Prohibited Items:
- Stationery with written or printed material (like papers, calculators, etc.), except for students with learning disabilities (according to CBSE guidelines, 2020)
- Communication devices: Mobile phones, Bluetooth, Earphones, Smart watches, Cameras
- Personal items: Wallets, Goggles, Handbags, Pouches
- Food (except for diabetic students)
- Any item that could help with cheating

Bringing any of these prohibited items will result in punishment as per CBSE rules.
Dress Code:
- Regular students: School uniform
- Private students: Light clothes

CBSE Board Exam Ethics 2025: Offense-Wise Penalties for Using Unfair-Means
The following table carries 5 categories for dividing offense-wise penalties that will be given to the candidates caught indulging in unfair means.
