CBSE Board Exam 2025 : Every Student Should Know About the New Changes - Details Here

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is focused on improving education and keeping up with new policies. In 2024, CBSE announced several changes to make learning better, following the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

CBSE has set the dates for the Class 10 and Class 12 board exams. They will start on February 15, 2025. The Class 10 exams will finish by March 18, while Class 12 exams will go on until April 4, 2025. Practical exams and internal assessments began on January 1, 2025.

Changes in Exam Format

The changes for the 2025 exams will affect how students study and take their tests. Here are the main updates:

Fewer Constructed Response Questions

CBSE will reduce the number of short and long-answer questions in both Class 10 and Class 12 exams. This change aims to focus more on students' analytical and critical-thinking skills rather than just memorization.

More Competency-Based Questions

A larger part of the Class 12 board exams will include competency-based questions. These questions test students' ability to apply what they’ve learned to real-life situations, following NEP 2020's focus on practical learning.

Higher Weightage for Internal Assessments

Internal assessments will now count for 40% of the total marks, while final board exams will make up 60%. This includes projects, periodic tests, and assignments, giving a fuller picture of students' abilities throughout the year.

Attendance and Security Measures

To sit for the board exams in 2025, students must have at least 75% attendance. Exceptions can be made for medical emergencies or sports events if proper documents are provided. Also, all CBSE exam centers must install CCTV cameras in exam halls starting in 2025. Schools that don’t meet this requirement won’t be allowed to serve as exam centers.

Special Provisions for Athletes

CBSE understands that students involved in national or international sports events or recognized Olympiads face unique challenges. Special exams will be held for these students to help them balance their studies and sports without sacrificing either. This option has been available since 2018.

New Sub-Regional Office in Tripura

To address concerns about state-run CBSE-affiliated schools in Tripura, CBSE is opening a new sub-regional office in Agartala. This move aims to support educational reforms and improve student outcomes in the area. The state government has agreed to provide land for this office, which will initially operate from the Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya building.

The office will work closely with local education authorities to improve exam management and support student growth.These updates show CBSE's commitment to creating a better learning environment and ensuring that students are ready for their future challenges.
