Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on February 19 said students will get an option of appearing for 10th and 12th class board examinations twice a year from the academic session 2025-26.
Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan introduced the PM Shri (Prime Minister Schools for Rising India) initiative in Chhattisgarh on Monday. This program aims to enhance 211 schools in the state. Minister Pradhan mentioned that starting from the academic year 2025-26, students will have the opportunity to participate in 10th and 12th board exams twice annually. This move is expected to provide more flexibility for students in their examination schedules.
The Education Minister said that one of the new National Education Policy (NEP), which came out in 2020, is to reduce educational stress on students. The ceremony was held at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium in Raipur.
Highlighting the concept of starting 10 bags-free days in the school every year, the minister insisted on linking students with other activities and arts, culture and sports.
Under NEP 2020, Education Minister Pradhan shared that from 2025-26 academic session, students will get an opportunity to appear twice in 10th and 12th grade board examination. After the new curriculum outline (NCF) announced by the Ministry of Education in August 2023, board examinations will be held at least twice a year. Its purpose is to reduce students' stress and ensure that students get enough time and opportunity to perform well.
Students appearing in the board examination will also get the option to maintain the best score.
Pradhan asked the students present at the ceremony if they were happy with this decision, and asked them to keep the best marks obtained after appearing in both exams. "Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji's approach through NEP is to keep students stress free, enrich them with quality education, keep students connected with culture and prepare them for the future. It is to make India a developed country by 2047 by 2047. Is the formula. " He said.
