The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a strict warning to all its affiliated schools. The Board has asked schools to stay away from sports activities organised by CBSE Board School Games Welfare Society (CBSE-WSO), Agra.
This warning comes after the society's registration was cancelled by the Registrar of Firms, Societies and Chits, Agra, on December 5, 2025.
Schools have been told to treat all claims, messages, or programmes from CBSE-WSO as invalid. The Board has made it clear that it has no connection with this society. It also stated that CBSE-WSO was using the name "CBSE" without permission, which is misleading.

Why Was CBSE-WSO Registration Cancelled?
The Registrar of Firms, Societies and Chits, Agra, found that CBSE-WSO was using the "CBSE" name without the Board's consent. Based on this, the registrar cancelled the society's registration. This means CBSE-WSO can no longer operate legally.
Himanshu Gupta, Secretary of CBSE, signed the official notification. He has urged schools to be careful and verify any organisation before engaging with it.
Key Points from CBSE Advisory
| Instruction | Details |
|---|---|
| Stay away from CBSE-WSO | Don't participate in any events organised by this society |
| All communications are invalid | Treat any message or invitation from CBSE-WSO as unauthorised |
| No CBSE affiliation | The Board has no connection with CBSE-WSO |
| Verify before participating | Cross-check all sports events claiming CBSE affiliation |
| Contact CBSE directly | Reach out to the Board for any clarification |
Schools Asked to Avoid Unauthorised Sports Events
CBSE has clearly directed all affiliated schools not to support or sponsor students for any sports event organised by CBSE-WSO. The Board warned that such programmes could mislead students and parents into thinking CBSE is involved.
Schools should always verify the authenticity of sports competitions held under the CBSE name. They can do this by contacting the Board through official channels before allowing students to participate.
How Can Schools Verify Events?
If any school receives an invitation for a sports event claiming CBSE affiliation, it should contact the Board directly. CBSE's official communication channels are the only reliable source for information about authorised events and recognised organisations.
Conclusion
This advisory from CBSE aims to protect schools, students, and parents from fraudulent organisations. The Board is committed to maintaining the trust and integrity of its name. All schools must follow these instructions carefully and ensure their students don't participate in unauthorised events.
