CBSE Class 8 Language Rule: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued an important directive regarding board exams. This directive is especially important for eighth-grade students and their parents.
According to the new CBSE rule, if a student fails to pass any of the three compulsory language subjects in eighth grade, they will have to retake the exam in all those language subjects in the next grade (ninth).
Why is Passing Three Languages Compulsory in Class 8?
The CBSE has clarified that it is mandatory for students to study and pass three language subjects by eighth grade. This rule is designed to develop students' multilingual abilities. If a student fails to meet this requirement, they will have to retake the exam in ninth grade to prove their proficiency in that language subject.
This directive applies to all schools where the child enrolls in ninth grade.
Facility to change subject marks in board exams
This CBSE directive also provides a significant relief to students in board exams. The Board has allowed students to exchange their core subject marks for language subject marks.
This rule will help students pass the 10th board exam even if they fail in one of the three compulsory academic subjects, such as Science, Mathematics, or Social Science, and pass a skill subject as their sixth optional subject, the compulsory subject will be replaced by the skill subject. That is, the skill subject's marks will be counted in place of the compulsory subject.
Language Subject and Seventh Subject: If a student fails a language subject included in the first five subjects, it can be replaced by the language taken as the seventh optional subject. However, the condition for this is that the student must have passed the seventh language subject.
Updates on the Bi-Annual Class 10 Board Exam
The Board has also informed that the 10th board exam will be conducted twice from this academic session. However, students should keep in mind that those who appear in less than three papers in the first 10th board exam will not be eligible to appear in the second exam.
Furthermore, students who receive a compartment result in the first exam will be allowed to appear in the second exam only under the compartment category. Students will not be allowed to take any additional subjects after passing the 10th grade.
These new guidelines are important steps taken by the CBSE to help students perform better in the exam and provide flexibility in subject selection.
