Why did the Extra Seats Increase?
According to experts, this situation is related to the allocation process of JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority). JoSAA often allocates some extra seats to balance the seat withdrawals and ensure maximum utilization.
This trend shows that seat management in IITs is kept flexible so that not a single seat remains vacant.
