The National Testing Agency (NTA) will announce the JEE Main 2025 second session result in the form of percentile scores on April 17. NTA uses the normalization formula to calculate the JEE Main percentile score of candidates.

The JEE Main percentile and normalization formula used by NTA (National Testing Agency) is given here. To determine the JEE Main 2025 result and rank list, NTA will adopt the process of normalization which is based on percentile calculation. The JEE Main 2025 rank list will be prepared by NTA on the basis of percentile scores and not the raw marks obtained by candidates in the exam.

Key Highlights of JEE Main 2025 Results:

100 Percentile Scorers: Fourteen candidates secured a full 100 NTA score, with five of the top scorers from Rajasthan.
Exam Dates & Centers: Session 1 was conducted on January 22, 23, 24, 28, and 29, 2025, across 618 centers in 304 cities, including 15 international locations.
JEE Advanced Eligibility: Candidates securing a rank within the top 2.5 lakh are eligible for JEE Advanced 2025.
Tie-Breaking Rule: In case of tie scores, ranks are determined based on Mathematics marks, followed by Physics, Chemistry, and then age preference.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) uses a percentile-based normalization method to ensure fairness in ranking. The percentile score is calculated using the formula:

Percentile Score = (Number of candidates scoring ≤ a particular candidate / Total candidates in that session) × 100

1. Percentile / Percentile Score

It is based on the relative performance of candidates who appeared for the exam.
The marks secured are converted into a scale ranging from 100 to 0 for each session.

JEE Main 2025 Tie-Breaking Criteria

JEE Main 2025 provides equal percentile scores to candidates and the National Testing Agency (NTA) applies tie-breaking rules to decide All India Rank (AIR). The final ranking system depends on subject scores which are evaluated through an additional protocol when necessary. The candidate who receives a higher grade in Mathematics obtains a superior rank position which is then followed by Physics and Chemistry results. The candidate who has answered fewer questions incorrectly moves up the ranking position. The selection process finishes with a contest between candidates whose rankings remain tied by giving rank priority to individuals with older age.
