Police in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district have filed an FIR against 23 people, including invigilators, for allegedly being involved in the mass cheating.

The incident was captured on CCTV, in which students were seen copying from each other's answer sheets. According to a PTI report, suspension proceedings have been initiated against the Zilla Parishad employees and all staff posted at the centre have been replaced.

Furthermore, in Jalna district, an air squad has ordered the suspension of six invigilators after students were found cheating during an English exam in Ambad tehsil. Action has also been initiated against three students.

The case was registered under sections of the Maharashtra Prevention of Malpractice in University, Board and Other Specified Examinations Act, 1982.

In 2025, the board registered 364 cheating cases at 124 examination centers across nine divisional boards. Of the eleven FIRs, seven were registered in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, and two each in Pune and Mumbai. Notably, Sambhajinagar had the highest number of cheating cases registered last year, with 214.

The 2026 Class 12 board exams in Maharashtra will begin on February 10 and continue until March 11 for approximately 1.5 million students.
