CUET UG 2024: NTA to Conduct Retest for Valid Grievances

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the provisional answer key for CUET UG 2024. According to the official notice, the NTA will conduct a retest for CUET UG candidates from July 15 to 19 if any grievances raised by students about the conduct of the exam are found correct.

How to Raise Objections and Grievances

Students have until 5 pm on June 9 to raise objections against the provisional answer key and to submit grievances related to the CUET UG 2024 exam, which is a crucial gateway to undergraduate admissions in all Central government universities.

Background and Recent Updates

This announcement follows controversies surrounding the NEET UG 2024 results, which were released 10 days ahead of schedule, leading to demands for a retest. In contrast, the CUET UG result has been delayed from its scheduled date of June 30.

The CUET UG exam, conducted in a hybrid mode for the first time, faced cancellations in Delhi due to logistics issues and in Kanpur due to the distribution of incorrect question papers. The NTA administered the exam in pen and paper mode for 15 subjects and computer-based mode for 48 subjects to minimize the normalization process. Over 13.4 lakh candidates registered for the exam.

NTA Under Scrutiny

Since the release of the NEET UG 2024 results on June 4, the NTA has been under scrutiny for irregularities, including inflated top scorers, incorrect questions, and allegations of unfair grace marks and paper leaks. These issues have led to the cancellation or postponement of other exams, such as UGC NET, CSIR UGC NET, and NCET. Consequently, a high-level committee has been formed by the Centre to review the NTA's functioning, while the CBI is investigating the paper leak allegations.

Meanwhile, the Centre has also postponed NEET PG and announced a new exam date for the postgraduate medical entrance exam conducted by NBEMS.
