CUET UG 2024 Program Unaffected by Lok Sabha Elections: UGC Chairman

The Common University Entrance Test for Undergraduates (CUET UG) 2024 is set to run from May 15 to May 31, 2024. The official datesheet will come out after registration ends on March 26, according to the UGC Chairman. Earlier, Jagadesh assured, "The exam schedule won't budge, even with the Lok Sabha elections."

The UGC is rolling out several measures to make the CUET-UG exam smooth and stress-free. These include hybrid mode exams, timely admit card releases, breaks between same-day exams, and keeping test difficulty reasonable.

On Wednesday, UGC head M Jagadesh Kumar shared that the National Testing Agency (NTA) handling CUET will unveil test cities a week before the exam, as per ANI.

"Since it's a hybrid exam this time, there'll be more centers in cities, giving students their preferred choices. Admit cards will be downloadable a few days before the exam for security reasons," he mentioned.

These steps aim to boost accessibility, cut down logistical issues, and enhance the test experience.

Talking to ANI, UGC's M Jagadesh Kumar said, "This year, students can opt for a maximum of six papers instead of ten."

"We saw only a small number of students choosing ten papers last year. But scheduling became complex, stretching the test over several days," Kumar explained.

He added, "Breaks between same-day exams will ease stress."

"Gaps allow mental and physical rest, helping students shift between subjects and reduce stress," he noted.

To reduce reliance on coaching centers, UGC plans to maintain a moderate difficulty level.

"Keeping questions moderately challenging helps students see it as fair and doable. Handling such questions boosts their confidence and reduces coaching dependency," he emphasized.

To curb cheating, strict identity checks like photo IDs and biometric scans will be in place.

"Seating will minimize interactions, with ample invigilators overseeing. Random checks will happen during exams," Kumar assured.

"Answers and patterns will be analyzed to spot any unusual trends hinting at cheating," he added.
