CUET UG Exam 2024 : 13 Lakh Students Register; English Most Chosen Subject

This year, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has received an impressive count of over 13 lakh applications for the Common University Entrance Test, Undergraduate (CUET UG) 2024. Specifically, 13,47,618 students have registered for CUET UG 2024, as per NTA data.

Compared to last year's figures of 14.99 lakh registrations, there's a slight decrease in CUET UG registrations this time around. In 2023, there were 8.03 lakh male candidates, 6.96 lakh female candidates, and 16 transgender candidates who registered for the exam. However, this year, we have 7.17 lakh male candidates, 6.30 lakh female candidates, and 7 transgender candidates applying for UET 2024.

In 2023, a total of 11,16,018 unique candidates appeared for the exam. Among them, 5,13,978 were female, 6,02,028 were male, and 12 belonged to the third gender category. However, the total number of registrations this time is higher than the debut year's figures of 9.9 lakh.

CUET UG 2024: Registrations by Subject Similar to last year, English remains the subject with the highest number of test takers. The registrations for English have surged from 7.19 lakh in 2023 to an impressive 10.07 lakh in 2024. Following closely is the general test, with 8.34 lakh students registered.

Apart from English and the general test, the top five subjects with the highest number of registrations are chemistry, physics, and mathematics, respectively.

On the other end, subjects like Sindhi language (8 registrations), Konkani (9 registrations), Maithali (50 registrations), Tibetan (41 registrations), Italian (51 registrations), Dogri (77 registrations), Russian (86 registrations), and Chinese (93 registrations) have the least number of registrations.

In 2023, more than 22,000 candidates scored 100 percentile marks, with English having the maximum top scorers, followed by Biology and Economics. Additionally, subjects like Accountancy, Biology, Business Studies, Economics, English, History, and Political science saw over 1000 students achieving 100 percentile scores.
