NEET 2027 Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must check the eligibility requirements before completing the NEET UG 2027 application form. The final conditions will be available in the official information bulletin.
Nationality
Indian nationals, Non-Resident Indians, Overseas Citizens of India and foreign nationals were permitted to appear for NEET UG 2026. Similar nationality rules are expected for the 2027 examination. Admission will remain subject to the regulations of the relevant government, institution and counselling authority.
Minimum Age
Candidates are expected to complete 17 years of age on or before December 31, 2027.
Under the 2026 rules, candidates had to complete 17 years by December 31 of the examination year. The 2026 information bulletin also stated that there was no upper age limit.
The age requirement for NEET 2027 will be confirmed through the new bulletin.
Educational Qualification
Candidates should have passed or be appearing in Class 12 or an equivalent examination.
They must study the following subjects:
- Physics
- Chemistry
- Biology or Biotechnology
- English
Candidates awaiting their Class 12 result may apply. However, they must pass the qualifying examination with the required subjects before the first round of counselling. Candidates who studied Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Biotechnology and English as additional subjects were also allowed under the 2026 rules, provided they had documentary proof from a recognised board.
Important Clarification on Minimum Marks
The percentages of 50%, 40% and 45% are often incorrectly described as compulsory Class 12 board marks.
In the latest NEET UG 2026 bulletin, these figures were mentioned as the minimum NEET qualifying percentiles for admission, not as category-wise Class 12 aggregate requirements:
| Category | Minimum NEET Qualifying Percentile |
|---|---|
| General and General-EWS | 50th percentile |
| SC, ST and OBC-NCL | 40th percentile |
| Unreserved and General-EWS PwBD | 45th percentile |
| SC, ST and OBC-NCL PwBD | 40th percentile |
Candidates must still pass the qualifying examination with the required subjects. NTA and the relevant regulatory authorities will confirm the rules for the 2027 session.

Step 4: Pay the Application Fee
Pay the NEET 2027 application fee using an available online payment method, such as:

The application won’t be considered complete until the fee is successfully paid and the confirmation page is generated.
Step 5: Download the Confirmation Page
Download and print the confirmation page after completing the payment.
Candidates don’t usually need to send the confirmation page or supporting documents to NTA by post or email. They should keep copies of the confirmation page and payment receipt for admission and future correspondence.
Documents Required for NEET 2027 Application Form

New Information Expected in the NEET 2027 Application Process
NTA introduced or continued several identity-verification measures during the 2026 registration process. These requirements may continue or be strengthened for the 2027 session.
Live Photograph During Registration
The 2026 form required candidates to capture a live photograph while completing the application. Candidates could use a webcam or scan a QR code with a mobile device.
The live photograph could be compared with the photograph available in the Aadhaar database. Candidates whose photographs didn’t match or who used another identity-verification method could be asked to upload an attested identity certificate.
Both-Hand Finger and Thumb Impressions
Candidates were required to upload impressions of the fingers and thumbs of both hands for NEET UG 2026. Applicants shouldn’t assume that only one thumb impression will be required for 2027.
Detailed Address Proof
The 2026 registration process required scanned proof of present and permanent addresses. If the addresses were the same, candidates had to follow the instructions provided in the application portal.
This requirement may continue in NEET 2027.
Aadhaar-Based Identity Verification
Aadhaar wasn’t described as the only permitted identity document in the 2026 bulletin. However, NTA advised candidates to consider Aadhaar verification to avoid uploading additional identity documents.
Candidates using an identity method other than Aadhaar or DigiLocker could be required to provide further proof.
Photograph Without Name and Date
Older NEET instructions often advised candidates to upload photographs containing their name and the date on which the photograph was taken.
The NEET UG 2026 document specifications focused on a recent photograph with a white background, clear facial visibility and prescribed file dimensions. It didn’t state that the candidate’s name and date had to be printed on the photograph. Candidates should follow only the specifications issued for the 2027 session.
NEET UG 2027 Application Fee
NTA hasn’t announced the NEET 2027 application fee. The expected fee structure below is based on NEET UG 2026.
| Category | Expected Application Fee |
|---|---|
| General | ₹1,700 |
| General-EWS and OBC-NCL | ₹1,600 |
| SC, ST, PwBD, PwD and Third Gender | ₹1,000 |
| Candidates applying from outside India | ₹9,500 |
Processing charges and applicable taxes may be added separately. NTA may revise the fee for NEET 2027.
NEET 2027 Application Correction Window
NTA is expected to open the NEET 2027 correction window after registration closes. Only candidates who submit the application form and pay the fee before the deadline will be able to use this facility.
The correction window may allow changes to selected details, such as:
- Parents’ information
- Category or subcategory
- Class 10 and Class 12 details
- Examination city
- Question paper medium
- Signature
- Address
- Identity details
All fields may not be editable. During the 2026 correction process, NTA allowed changes only to specified fields, and corrections affecting the fee became valid after payment of the additional amount.
Important Instructions for NEET 2027 Applicants
Candidates should submit only one application form. Multiple applications may lead to cancellation or other action.
Use an active mobile number and email address belonging to the candidate or their parent or guardian. NTA will send important updates through these contact details.
Check the spelling of your name, date of birth, category, identity details and academic information before submitting the form.
Upload only your own photograph, signature, impressions and certificates. Using another person’s documents or altering them may be treated as an unfair means practice.
Pay the application fee before the deadline and confirm that the confirmation page has been generated. A bank deduction alone doesn’t prove that the application has been submitted successfully.
Expected in February 2027, along with the official notification. As of late July 2026, the NEET portal still showed 2026 exam info, so wait for the new bulletin before trusting any dates.
Roughly a month. Registration should open in February 2027 and close in March 2027, with the fee payment deadline also in March.
Based on the 2026 process, keep these ready: a recent passport-size photo, your signature, finger and thumb impressions of both hands, Class 10 certificate and marksheet, present and permanent address proof, and category, PwD, or nationality certificates if they apply. You'll also capture a live photograph during registration itself. Exact requirements will come in the 2027 bulletin.
Going by 2026: photo, signature, and impressions in JPG or JPEG; certificates and address proof in PDF. The photo should be recent, with a white background and your face clearly visible. Older instructions about printing your name and date on the photo no longer applied in 2026. Exact file sizes will be in the 2027 bulletin.
The NEET portal has a "forgot password" option on the login page. You can reset it using your application number and the OTP sent to your registered mobile or email. This is exactly why NTA insists on an active number and email that belongs to you or your parents.
Not announced yet. Based on 2026: ₹1,700 for General, ₹1,600 for General-EWS and OBC-NCL, ₹1,000 for SC/ST/PwBD/PwD/Third Gender, and ₹9,500 for candidates applying from outside India. Processing charges and taxes are extra, and NTA may revise these amounts.
Before final submission, yes, review and fix everything freely. After submission, only during the correction window, and only for the fields NTA allows. So double-check your name, date of birth, and category against your documents before you hit submit.
5 steps. First, register on the official portal with your basic details and verify your mobile and email via OTP. Second, log in and fill the full form: personal details, addresses, Class 10 and 12 info, question paper language, and exam city preferences. Third, upload your photo, signature, impressions, and certificates. Fourth, pay the fee online (debit card, credit card, net banking, or UPI). Fifth, download the confirmation page. And no, you don't need to post anything to NTA.
Yes, through the correction window expected in March 2027. Only candidates who submitted the form and paid the fee on time can use it. Editable fields may include parents' info, category, academic details, exam city, question paper medium, signature, and address. If your correction changes your fee category, the change takes effect only after you pay the difference.
Check neet.nta.nic.in regularly and keep your registered mobile and email active, since NTA sends updates there. Skip unofficial websites, forwarded links, and social media posts. Applications through anything other than the official portal won't be accepted.
