Registration for CAT 2026 is expected to begin from 1 August 2026. This can be done by filling up the online application form through the official website of iimcat.ac.in. After the payment of the fees, your application process will get completed. The deadline for this is expected to be 20 September 2026.

Eligibility for CAT 2026

Prior to registration, please ensure that you have satisfied the minimum eligibility criteria:

Graduation Degree with a minimum of 50% marks (or 45% for SC/ST/PwD) from a recognized university.
Final year students are also eligible.
Professional degrees such as CA, CS, ICWA, and FIAI are also eligible.
There is no upper age limit.

CAT 2026 Registration Process: Step-by-Step

Step 1: Register as a New Candidate

Access the official website at iimcat.ac.in.
Select “New Candidate Registration.”
Key in your name, date of birth, email id, and mobile no.
Verify with the OTP and save the user id and password.

Step 2: Log In and Fill the Application Form

Enter using your User ID and password.
Provide your personal information, education information, and employment information (if applicable).
Choose your course and your preferences for IIMs.
Choose up to 5 exam cities as per your preference.
Submit the necessary documents.

Step 3: Pay the Fee

Pay online only, using a debit card, credit card, or net banking.

Filling the Application Form

After logging in, you'll need to enter a few sets of details:

Personal details: date of birth, gender, category, nationality, address, and contact details.
Academic details: your Class 10 marks, Class 12 marks, and graduation scores.
Work experience: optional, so freshers can skip this.
Preferences: the courses and institutes you want to apply to, plus your exam cities.

Once you've filled in everything, upload your documents and pay the fee to submit the form.
