GATE Age Limit There is no age limit for GATE 2025.
GATE Attempt Limit You can attempt GATE as many times as you want.

Note: If you are pursuing a higher degree or already have one higher than what's listed, you can still apply for GATE 2025. Candidates with a B.Sc./B.A./B.Com. degree (3-year program) can apply for Master's programs in IITs and IISc.

GATE Eligibility Criteria for Specific Streams

Students should check the eligibility for B.Sc, B.Tech, M.Tech, MSc, and others. There is no specific percentage required for B.Tech. The eligibility for streams like EEE, Electrical, Mechanical, and others is the same. The eligibility for Biotechnology is similar for both B.Sc and B.Tech.

Documents Required for GATE 2025 Eligibility

When applying for GATE, candidates need to upload specific documents to show they meet the eligibility criteria. Here are the key points about the required documents:

  • Candidates completing their qualifying exams in 2025 or earlier must submit their degree or provisional degree certificate.
  • If you're in the final year, you must upload a Provisional Certificate from your institute or a mark sheet for Section A of AMIE.
  • Candidates with disabilities must upload a certificate from a recognized authority. Only those with at least 40% impairment will receive a fee concession.
  • Candidates with failed subjects must upload a copy of any final year mark sheet from their institute. Internet-downloaded mark sheets won't be accepted.
  • SC/ST candidates need to upload valid proof for a fee concession. Only certificates from authorized officials will be accepted.
  • Dyslexic candidates must submit a certificate issued by authorities to use the services of a scribe.

Note: The GATE eligibility certificate must be uploaded during the online application, not sent by post.

GATE Eligibility for M.Tech Courses

Candidates who pass GATE can apply for M.Tech courses at IITs, NITs, IIITs, and some CFTIs. There’s no separate counselling for GATE. Candidates must apply separately for each counselling process. For M.Tech admission in IITs, you should register through COAP. Those applying to NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs must apply through CCMT.

GATE Eligibility for International Students

International candidates from countries like Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Ethiopia, and the UAE can also take the GATE exam. They need to have completed or be in their final year of a degree in Engineering/Technology or Science.
