    Chernobyl Disaster

    ​The Chernobyl nuclear accident took place on 26 April 1986 in Chernobyl, Ukraine. The most terrible nuclear accident ever. This broke a plant and triggered a series of uncontrolled nuclear explosions. In this incident, radioactive materials quickly spread to nearby areas. There was a huge loss of life and property.

    Bhopal tragedy

    It was a terrible industrial accident on 3 December 1984 in Bhopal city of Madhya Pradesh. This is known as the Bhopal Gas Tragedy or Bhopal Gas Tragedy. The cause of the tragedy was a poisonous gas leak from the factory of the company named 'Union Carbide'. This gas tragedy had a poisonous gas leak called 'methyl isocyanate'. Which was used to make pesticides.​

    Ozone hole

    Ozone gas is composed of three atoms of oxygen (O3). It is found naturally in small quantities in the atmosphere. The ozone layer extends from about 10 km to 40 km in the atmosphere (this system is called the stratosphere). This layer protects the Earth from ultraviolet rays coming from the Sun.

    It is visible as a brown haze and is most prominent during the morning and afternoon. Photochemical smog— It is a mixture of ozone, nitric acid, aldehydes, peroxyacetyl nitrates (PANs), and other secondary pollutants.
