If the distance between point O and M is lesser than the distance between point U and S then what would be the square of distance between O and M?

    Solution

    Given,

    X + Y means X is to the east of Y at a distance of either 5 m or 10 m

    X * Y means X is to the west direction of Y at a distance of either 5 m or 10 m

    X $ Y means X is to the north direction of Y at a distance of either 8 m or 16 m

    X ? Y means X is to the south direction of Y at a distance of either 8 m or 16 m

    X ?* Y means X is to the south-west direction of Y

    X $+ Y means X is to the north-east direction of Y

    X ?+ Y means X is to the south-east direction of Y

    X $* Y means X is to the north-west direction of Y

According to the given information, we get the following figure,

So, the distance between O and M would be 5 m. Therefore, the square = 25

So, ‘25’ would be the square of distance between O and M

What would the area of triangle formed by point P, Q and N?

    Solution

    Area of triangle PQN = 1/2 × base × height =1/2 × 10 × 8 = 40

So, the area of triangle formed by point P,Q and N is 40 m2.

  • Question 3
    1 / -0

Direction: Statement is given followed by two inferences I and II. You have to consider the statement to be true even if it seems to be at variance from commonly known facts. You have to decide which of the given inferences, if any, follow from the given statement?

Statement: For over 80 percent of small businesses in India and Brazil, WhatsApp helps them communicate with customers and grow their business.

    Inferences:

I: Without WhatsApp, the majority of small businesses of Brazil and India wouldn't have been successful.

II: People of other countries see WhatsApp strictly as a personal messaging app.

    Solution

A business flourishes when the communication with customers is good. 80 percent of small businesses communicate through WhatsApp. Without it majority of them would not have been successful. But this doesn’t mean that other countries see it strictly as a personal messaging app. It’s just that the amount of small businesses in India and Brazil using it is very high. So, we can say that only I follows.

  • Question 9
    1 / -0

Direction: In the questions below, is given a statement followed by two assumptions numbered I and II. An assumption is something supposed or taken for granted. You have to consider the statement and the assumptions and decide which of the assumption(s) is/are implicit in the statement.

Statement: It is desirable to put the child in school at the age of 5 or so.

    Assumptions:

    I. At that age the child reaches appropriate level of development and is ready to learn.

II. The school do not admit children after six years of age.

    Solution

The statement talks about desirable age to put the child in school at the age of 5 or so.

It is not talking about the school do not admit children after six years of age.

Assumptions I → It is implicit because at the age of 5, the child reaches the appropriate level of development and is ready to learn

Assumptions II → It is not directly following the statements and as the age of admission of children is decided by Education board not by school management.

  • Question 10
    1 / -0

Direction: Given below is a statement followed by two conclusions numbered I and II. You have to assume everything in the statement to be true, then consider the two conclusions and decide which of them logically follows, beyond a reasonable doubt, from the information given in the statement.

Statement: Applications of applicants who do not fulfill eligibility criteria and who do not submit applications before the last date will be summarily rejected and will not be called for the written test.

    Conclusions:

    I. Those who are called for the written test are those who fulfill eligibility criteria and have submitted their applications before last date.

II. Written test will be held only after scrutiny of applications.

    Solution

To be called for the written exam the applicant has to fulfill the minimum eligibility criteria and also has to submit the application before the last date. So, conclusion I follows.

In order to check if the student has met the criteria there is a scrutiny of the applications before calling the students for exam. So, conclusion II follows.
