The ratio of coconut water and watermelon juice in a 500 ml solution is 3 ∶ 2. Some quantity of watermelon juice is added to the solution and the ratio becomes 1 ∶ 1. Find the amount of watermelon juice added.

    Solution

Let the coconut water and watermelon juice be x lit.

    3x + 2x = 500⇒ 5x = 500⇒ x = 100

We can say that coconut water is 300 ml and watermelon juice is 200 ml.

    To make the coconut value equal, multiply the second ratio with 3 ⇒ Coconut : Watermelon = 3 : 3 ⇒ Watermelon = 3x - 2x = x Where, x = 100 ml

    Solution

    P (N) = 40%, P (S) = 35%

    Formula used:

    P (E) = P (A) × P (B)

Either Event A is happening or event B

    ⇒ P (E) = 0.4 × 0.35 ⇒ P (E) = 0.14
