  • Question 1
    1 / -0

Direction: Consider the following question and statements and decide which of the statements is sufficient/necessary to answer the question.

    Question:

How many players are there between Suresh and Keerthi in a row of players?

    Statements:

    I. Suresh is 15th from the left in the row.

II. Keerthi is exactly in the middle and there are ten students towards his right.

    Solution

    The logic is:

    I. Suresh is 15th from the left in the row → Not sufficient (As there is no information regarding Keerthi)

II. Keerthi is exactly in the middle and there are ten students towards his right → Not sufficient (As there is no information regarding Suresh)

On considering both the statements together, can be concluded as follows:

Keerthi is exactly in the middle, hence there are ten students towards his right and left on both sides and total students = 10 + 10 + 1 = 21.

Therefore, the position of Keerthi from left = 11th, and Suresh is 15th from the left in the row.

    Players between Suresh and Keerthi in a row of players = (15 + 11) -21 - 2 = 3

So, Data in statements I and II together are necessary to find out the answer.

  • Question 2
    1 / -0

Direction: Study the following figure and answer the questions given below.

    Solution

The number of artists who are players is,

    = 22 + 3

    = 25

  • Question 3
    1 / -0

Direction: Study the following figure and answer the questions given below.

    Solution

The number of doctors who are both players and artists is 3.

  • Question 4
    1 / -0

By looking in a mirror, it appears that it is 6.30 in the clock. What is the real time?

  • Question 5
    1 / -0

In a code, "CHAIR' is written as "≠ * • ÷ %" and "HIDE" is shown as "* ÷ + $". How does "DEAR" write in this code?

    Solution

    In CHAIR,

    C→≠, H→*, A→•, I→÷, R→%

    In HIDE,

    H→*, I→÷, D→+, E→$

    Therefore,

    In DEAR is written as,

    D→+, E→$, A→•, R→%

  • Question 6
    1 / -0

Direction: Each of the question below consists of a question and three statements number I, II and III given below it. You have to decide whether the data provided in the statement are sufficient to answer the question.

What is the respective speed of 2 trains, P and Q of length 175 meters and 150 meters respectively? (Speed of Q > Speed of P)

Statement I. They take 13 seconds to cross each other when they are running in the opposite direction.

Statement II. The trains take 65 seconds to cross each other were running in the same direction.

Statement III. The sum of the speed of P and Q is 25 m/sec.

    Solution

    Length of Train P = 175 m

Let the speed of the train be y.

    Length of Train Q = 150 m

Let the speed of the train be x.

    For Statement I:

    325 = (x + y) × 13

    ⇒ x + y = 25      ----(i)

Statement I alone is not sufficient to answer the question.

    For statement II:

    325 = (x - y) × 65

    ⇒ x - y = 5      ----(ii)

Statement II alone is not sufficient to answer the question.

But if we combine both statements I and II then we can find the Speed.

    For statement III:

    x + y = 25      ----(iii)

Statement III alone is not sufficient to answer the question.

But if we combine statements II and III we can find the Speed.

∴ Either statement I and II together or Statement II and III together is sufficient to answer the question.

  • Question 7
    1 / -0

Direction: Each of the question below consists of a question and three statements number I, II and III given below it. You have to decide whether the data provided in the statement are sufficient to answer the question.

In a family there are 5 members, Malini, Ravi, Girish, Vijay, and Rati. Find the present age of Vijay.

Statement I. The total age of Malini, Rati, and Vijay are 78 years.

Statement II. The average age of the 5 members is 37 years.

Statement III. The present age of Vijay is 14 years more than the age of Girish.

    Solution

    For Statement I:

Total age of Malini, Rati, and Vijay = 78 years

Statement I alone is not sufficient to answer the question.

    For statement II:

    Total age of all 5 members = 37 × 5

    ⇒ 185

Statement II alone is not sufficient to answer the question.

    For statement III:

Let the age of Girish be x

    Age of Vijay = x + 14

    Interest = 3x – x = 2x

Statement III alone is not sufficient to answer the question.

Statement I, II, and III are not sufficient.

  • Question 8
    1 / -0

Direction: Each of the question below consists of a question and three statements number I, II and III given below it. You have to decide whether the data provided in the statement are sufficient to answer the question.

A dishonest shopkeeper professes to sell his articles at a cost price but uses a faulty scale while selling. What is the profit percentage the shopkeeper makes when he sells the article at a cost price?

Statement I. He uses a scale that weighs less by 25%.

Statement II. The cost price of the article is Rs. 30 per kg.

Statement III. If he has sold the articles at a 12.5% profit on cost price then his net profit percentage would have been 50%.

    Solution

    For Statement I:

When he sells 100 units then scale weighs only 75 units.

Let CP of 1 unit = 1 then CP of 75 units = Rs. 75

    SP of 75 units = Rs. 100

∴ we conclude that a profit of 33.33%. As we don’t have to find the value so CP is not necessary.

Statement I alone is sufficient to answer the question.

    For statement II:

    We can conclude that C.P = 30

Statement II alone is not sufficient to answer the question.

    For statement III:

    Let CP of 1 unit = 1

Then the SP of 100 units = 112.5% of 100 and net percentage = 50% therefore, CP = 75 it means he uses 25% less weight

As he sold his article at CP then his profit is 33.33%.

Statement III alone is sufficient to answer the question.

Statement I or III alone are sufficient.

  • Question 9
    1 / -0

    Solution

  • Question 10
    1 / -0

Direction: In the following question and two statements numbered I and II are given below it. You have to decide whether the data give in the statements are sufficient to answer the question. Read both the statements and choose the most appropriate answer

What is the rank of Dinesh from the bottom of the class?

Statement I: Dinesh's rank from the top of the class is 12th which is 32 ranks before Som's rank who is one among the 10 bottom most students of the class.

Statement II: In a class of 173 students, Dinesh secured 19th rank from the top. Also, 11 students are absent for the exam and are not listed in the rank.

    Solution

From statement II, In a class of 173 students, Dinesh secured 19th rank from the top. Also, 11 students are absent from the exam and are not listed in the rank.

There are 173 students and 11 are absent and not listed in the rank. So the total rank holders are 162. Dinesh secured 19th rank from the top,

So 18 students secured higher ranks before him.

Therefore, 162 - 18 = 144, which is the rank of Dinesh from the bottom.

So the data in statement II alone is sufficient to answer the question, while the data in statement I alone is not sufficient to answer the question.
