Bryophytes are called the 'Amphibians of the plant kingdom' because they live in the land but require water for their sexual reproduction process just like amphibians do. So they need water to complete their life cycle.

The main plant body of the bryophyte is haploid because the plant in bryophyte is gametophyte. The gametophyte is dominant which means it stays for a longer period of time as compared to the sporophyte phase.

Majority of the red algae are marine with greater concentrations found in the warmer areas. They occur in both well-lighted regions close to the surface of water and also at great depths in oceans where relatively little light penetrates.

Reproduction in fungi can take place by vegetative means – fragmentation, fission and budding.

Asexual reproduction is by spores called conidia or sporangiospores or zoospores.

The algae are divided into three main classes: Chlorophyceae, Phaeophyceae and Rhodophyceae.

The green coloured algae are called Chlorophyceae, the brown ones are called Phaeophyceae, and the red algae are called Rhodophyceae.
