Discrete data is information that can be categorized into a classification. Discrete data is based on counts. Only a finite number of values is possible, and the values cannot be subdivided meaningfully.

Dichotomous variables are nominal variables which have only two categories or levels. For example, if we were looking at gender, we would most probably categorize somebody as either "male" or "female". This is an example of a dichotomous variable (and also a nominal variable).

Attributes assigned to variables may have the same units as the variable or have no units . If you want to store data that requires units different from those of the associated variable, it is better to use a variable than an attribute.

A Frequency array is an array of frequencies according to variate values, that is to say, a frequency distribution. The term “array” is often used for the individual frequency distributions which form the separate rows and columns of a bivariatefrequency table. The raw data when put in ascending or descending order of magnitude is called an array or arrayed data.

When the class intervals are so fixed that the upper limit of one class is the lower limit of the next class; it is known as the exclusive method of classification. The exclusive method ensures continuity of data as much as the upper limit of one class is the lower limit of the next class.

In chronological classification the collected data are arranged according to the order of time expressed in years, months, weeks, etc., The data is generally classified in ascending order of time. For example, the data related with population, sales of a firm, imports and exports of a country are always subjected to chronological classification.

Under exclusive method class intervals are so fixed that upper limits of class is the lower limit of the next class. 

When data are observed over a period of time the type of classification is known as chronological classification.  In chronological classification the collected data are arranged according to the order of time expressed in years, months, weeks, etc., The data is generally classified in ascending order of time.

Data collected about a categorical variable will always be qualitative. Qualitative data is a categorical measurement expressed not in terms of numbers, but rather by means of a natural language description. In statistics, it is often used interchangeably with "categorical" data.
