Below are two statements explaining  Rivet popper hypothesis, select the correct option with respect to these statements.
Statement 1 - An analogy of rivets on a plane to species in an ecosystem.
Statement 2 - A few key species maintain the stability of an ecosystem.
    Solution
Rivet popper theory was proposed by Paul Ehrlich, where the rivets of an aeroplane represent species while the aeroplane represents ecosystem. Therefore, statement 1 is correct.
According to this theory if every passenger removed one rivet to take home from different areas of the plane, more importantly from the wing area it will cause an imbalance to the functioning of the plane and may lead to a crash. Similarly, if certain key species are removed from the ecosystem it will lead to the loss of stability in the ecosystem. Therefore, statement 2 is also correct.
So, the correct answer is 'Both statements are correct'
