In an agriculture field there is a prevalence of the following organism and crop disease which are affection the crop yield badly ________________.
    Solution
White rust or white blister caused by the oomycete Albugo candida. White rust is an obligate parasite that attacks vegetative and flowering structures of the plants and can cause yellow lesions on the upper surface and white pustules (mainly on the underside) of leaves and can cause malformation of inflorescences. Dispersal and infection are favoured in cool and humid conditions in spring and autumn. Dispersal is mainly done by wind and water. Several species of Albugo can attack Brassicaceae crops and weeds, but Albugo candida is the main species identified in Brassica crops.

So, the correct option is 'White rust'.

Chlorine atoms in the upper atmosphere cause the breakdown of ozone.
    $$Cl+O_3\rightarrow O_2+ClO$$
    $$ClO+O\rightarrow Cl+O_2$$
Which statements about these chlorine atoms are correct?
$$1$$. The chlorine atoms act as catalysts.
$$2$$. The chlorine atoms are free radicals.
$$3$$. The chlorine atoms are formed by heterolytic fission of a covalent bond in chlorofluorocarbons.
    Solution
Chlorine is able to destroy so much of the ozone because it acts as a catalyst
and it behaves like free radical because chlorine is formed by homolytic fission of CFC.
So only 1 and 2 are correct

  • Question 8

Which one of the following options correctly designate the percent contribution of gases (A, B, C and D) responsible of global warming?

    ABCD
    $$(1)$$$$CH_4(20\%)$$$$CFCs(14\%)$$$$N_2O(6\%)$$$$CO_2(60\%)$$
    $$(2)$$$$CFCs(20\%)$$$$CO_2(14\%)$$$$N_2O(6\%)$$$$CH_4(60\%)$$
    $$(3)$$$$N_2O(20\%)$$$$CH_4(14\%)$$$$CFCs(6\%)$$$$CO_2(60\%)$$
    $$(4)$$$$CH_4(20\%)$$$$N_2O(14\%)$$$$CFCs(6\%)$$$$CO_2(60\%)$$

    Solution
    • Global warming is the gradual increase in the overall temperature of the Earth’s atmosphere due to the greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect is a natural process that warms the Earth's surface. Solar energy absorbed at Earth's surface is radiated back into the atmosphere as heat. As the heat makes its way through the atmosphere and backs out to space, greenhouse gases absorb much of it which results in warming of Earth's surface and the air above it.
    • The contribution of Green house gases such as methane($$CH_4$$),CFCs(Chloroflurocarbons),Nitrous oxide($$N_2$$O) and carbondioxide($$CO_2$$)  to the  global warming is  about 20%,14%,6% and 60% respectively .
    • So, the correct answer is 'Option A'.

At which level of radioactivity released by radioactive waste can kill vegetation and cause irreparable injuries to humans and animals?
    Solution
Radioactive wastes release large amounts of neutron and gamma radiation. Intermediate level radiations causes serious injuries in vegetation (plants), humans and animals.
So, the correct answer is 'Intermediate level radiation'
