Human Resource Management (HRM) is the function within an organization that focuses on the recruitment of, management of, and providing direction for the people who work in an organization

HRM involves determining the organisation's need of human resources, recruitment and selection of best emloyees, training and development, compensation and reward to the employees. It also deals with liasoning with government and trade unions etc.

Staffing is both line as well as staff activity. Every manager has to perform as line activity like any other function of management. It is a staff activity because it an area of management like marketing management, financial management etc. Thus HRM has wider scope.

Estimating manpower requirement means finding out number and type of employees. Type here means qualification and educational background of people to be recruited.

Workload analysis means to find out number and type of employees required to perform various jobs designed in organisational structure. The manpower requirement can find out by equating workload analysis to workforce analysis.

Workforce analysis means analysing existing employees already occupying the job positions and how many of them are overburdened or underburdened. After comparing workload analysis and workforce analysis, the business enterprise can know about the understaff or overstaff in organisation.

It refers to the process of finding possible candidates for a job or a function. It is a positive process. It can be defined as the process of searching for prospective employees and stimulating them to apply for jobs in an organisation. 

It refers to choosing the most suitable candidate to fill the vacant job position.  The selection is done through different tests, interviews etc.

Recruitment is the process of identifying the sources for prospective candidates to stimulate them to apply for the jobs in the organisation and tjere is no rejection in this process.

Selection is the process of identifying and choosing the best person out of a number of prospective candidates for a job. In selection process, the rejection is generally more than the selected candidates. Therefore it is called a negative process.
