Elbow room means enough space to move around an area easily or the freedom and ability to act as one wants. Example: The mall is so crowded today that there's hardly any elbow room at all!

Gift of the grab means the ability to speak easily and confidently in a way that makes people want to listen to you and believe you.

Example- She has got the gift of the gab so she so she should work in sales and marketing.

To “have cold feet” is to be too fearful to undertake or complete an action or a loss or lack of courage or confidence; an onset of uncertainty or fear. Example- I was going to try bungee jumping, but I got cold feet.

Turn out Crabs means to fail or something went to vain or producing no result, useless. Example- In spite of putting our best effort the meeting turned out crabs.

In a pickle means to be in a troublesome or difficult situation. The adjectives “pretty” and “right” are commonly used before pickle.

Example-We are in a pretty pickle now because the hotel gave our room away.

A long shot is a guess that has only the slightest chance of succeeding.

It means that one has the responsibility for further action, especially after someone else previously held responsibility (here: the mother)

Get our kicks means something that gives you a feeling of excitement. A simpler word would be ‘enjoy’.

Exhilaration is a feeling of excitement, happiness, or elation.

To take over means to begin to have control of something.
