Your liver is the largest internal organ in your body and has a bunch of important jobs to do.

It filters out dangerous chemicals, helps break down the food you eat, and builds proteins that keep your body in good repair.

The small intestine absorbs most digested food molecules, as well as water and minerals, and passes them on to other parts of the body for storage or further chemical change.

Specialized cells help absorbed materials cross the intestinal lining into the bloodstream.

The large intestine absorbs water from waste before it exits the body.

The large intestine's main job is to remove water from the undigested matter and form solid waste (poop) to be excreted.

The last part of the large intestine is the rectum, which is where faeces (waste material) is stored before leaving the body through the anus.

The long, tube-like organ that is connected to the small intestine at one end and the anus at the other.

The remaining material, solid waste called stool, moves through the colon, is stored in the rectum, and leaves the body through the anal canal and anus.

The physical process of chewing food in your mouth helps to break down larger particles of food into smaller particles.

This helps to reduce stress on the oesophagus and helps the stomach metabolize and breakdown your food.

• Washing your hands before eating a meal is a simple and effective method of infection prevention.
• When you eat without washing your hands, the bacteria and germs that are left on your fingers and palms can be transferred to the inside of your mouth.

• Excretion is the removal from the body of waste products which result from normal life processes.
• Waste products such as carbon dioxide must be removed.
• If they are allowed to accumulate they cause poisoning which slows down vital chemical reactions.

Urea, together with water and other waste substances, forms the urine as it passes through the nephrons and down the renal tubules of the kidney.
