  • Question 1
    1 / -0

    Directions For Questions

What value should come in place of question mark (?) in the questions given below ?

    ...view full instructions

    2850 $$\div$$ ? = 75
    Solution
    2850 $$\div$$ ? = 75
    $$\Rightarrow$$ ? = $$\displaystyle \frac{2850}{75}$$ = 38.
  • Question 2
    1 / -0
    Evaluate $$\displaystyle\ \frac{(-8)\times8\times(-8)\times(-8)}{(-4)\times(-4)\times(-4)\times(-4)}$$
    Solution
    Given, $$

    \dfrac { (-8) \times 8 \times (-8) \times (-8) }{ (-4)\times (-4) \times (-4) \times (-4) } $$

As there are $$ 3 $$ negative numbers in the numerator and $$ 4 $$ in the denominator, the answer will be negative.

Canceling out the common factors and simplifying we get

    $$ \dfrac { (-8) \times 8 \times (-8) \times (-8) }{ (-4)\times (-4) \times (-4) \times (-4) }   =2\times -2\times2\times2 = - 16 $$

  • Question 3
    1 / -0
    Compare: $$+15\;\square-27$$
    Solution
Positive numbers are always greater than negative numbers.
    Hence, $$+15\;>\;-27$$.
  • Question 4
    1 / -0
What value should come in place of question mark (?) in the questions given below ?
    29 + 729 = ?
    Solution
    29 + 729 = 758
  • Question 5
    1 / -0
    Evaluate  $$\displaystyle\ \frac {(-16)\times (-8)\times (-81)}{(-18)\times 32}$$
    Solution
    Given, $$

    \dfrac { (-16)\times (-8) \times (-81) }{ (-18)\times 32 } $$

As there are $$ 3 $$ negative numbers in the numerator and $$ 1 $$ in the denominator, the answer will be positive.

Canceling out the common factors and simplifying we get

    $$ \dfrac { (-16)\times (-8) \times (-81) }{ (-18)\times 32 }=\dfrac{4 \times 81}{9 \times2}   = 18 $$

  • Question 6
    1 / -0
    Compare: $$+42\;\square+23$$
    Solution
While comparing positive numbers, greater is greater, smaller is smaller.
    Hence, $$+42 > +23$$.
  • Question 7
    1 / -0
Multiplication of a negative integer for even times gives a _____result
    Solution
    Multiplication 2 times: $$(-2)\times(-2) = 4$$

    Multiplication 4 times: $$(-3)\times(-3)\times(-3) \times (-3) = 9 \times 9 = 81$$

    Multiplication 6 times: $$(-1)\times(-1)\times(-1) \times (-1) \times (-1) \times (-1) = 1 \times 1 \times 1 = 1$$

Hence, when a negative integer is multiplied even number of times, the result is a positive integer.
  • Question 8
    1 / -0
    Compare: $$-28\;\square -32$$
    Solution
While comparing negative numbers, smaller is greater, greater is smaller.
    Therefore, $$-28\;>\;-32$$.
    Hence, option D is correct.
  • Question 9
    1 / -0

    Directions For Questions

What value should come in place of question mark (?) in the questions given below ?

    ...view full instructions

    43 $$\times$$ 5 = ?
    Solution
    43 $$\times$$ 5 = 215
  • Question 10
    1 / -0
    If $$27\times3 =243$$ and $$5\times 4=80$$
Then the value of $$3\times 7$$ is ___.
    Solution
    We can observe that,
    $$27\times3 =81 $$ and $$81\times 3 = 243 $$

    Similarly,
    $$5\times 4 =20 $$ and $$20 \times 4 =80$$

    Hence,
    $$3\times 7 = 3 \times 7 \times 7 =147 $$
