  • Question 1
    1 / -0
    During a doorbell ringing
    Solution
Striker repeatedly hits the metal gong when doorbell is ringing.
This can be observed in regular bells used at homes.

  • Question 2
    1 / -0
    Electric doorbell
    Solution
When the switch is pressed, the circuit completes and ringing begins. Hence, electrical energy is converted to sound energy. As the switch is released, no current flows, and no energy is consumed.
  • Question 3
    1 / -0
Armature is pulled towards the spring when it strikes the gong because
    Solution
The working of an electric bell is based on the magnetic effect of current. When the key is pressed, the circuit gets completed and current passes through it causing the electromagnet to get magnetised which in turn attracts the armature. This movement of the armature causes the hammer to strike the gong.
However when the armature moves towards the gong the connection between the spring strip and adjusting screw is lost which breaks the circuit and the current flow is stopped thus demagnetising the electromagnet. This causes the armature to return to its original position and it is thus pulled back due to the spring effect of the spring strip. This process is called a make and break circuit.

  • Question 4
    1 / -0
What will happen if the striker of a doorbell is kept in a magnetic field in a direction perpendicular to motion of striker
    Solution
Striker is attracted to the electromagnet when circuit is complete. When external magnetic field perpendicular to motion of striker is applied no effect is produced in the functioning. The reason for above is that motion of striker is hindered mechanically in that direction.

  • Question 5
    1 / -0
Exposed Electric doorbell can be damaged by
    Solution
    i) Mechanical Damage to metal gong or striker may hinder the working of the bell.

ii) High electric currents may cause heating and burning of an electrical circuit.

iii) Humidity may cause a short circuit between two unconnected wires, causing high electric currents and damage.
  • Question 6
    1 / -0
    Match the following
    1. Horse-shoe magneta. Holds the armature in place
    2. Armatureb. Electromagnet
    3. Spring stripc. Passes electric current to the spring strip
    4. Adjusting screwd. Fixed to the spring strip
    Solution
The main parts of an electric bell are horse-shoe magnet, soft iron armature, spring strip, gong, hammer, adjusting screw, switch, and battery. The horse-shoe magnet acts like an electromagnet in the presence of current and attracts the iron armature that is fixed to the spring strip. When the spring strip comes in contact with the adjusting screw the circuit gets completed and current passes through it.
  • Question 7
    1 / -0
Which of the following symbol is used for capacitance in circuits?
    Solution
The second option shows the symbol of capacitance in electric circuit.

    Answer-(B)
  • Question 8
    1 / -0
What does this symbol mean in electric circuit?

    Solution
The given symbol is used for $$AC$$ source of electric current in an electric circuit.

    Answer-(A)
  • Question 9
    1 / -0
What does this symbol mean in electric circuit?

    Solution
The given symbol is switch. Used in the electric circuits.
An electric switch is a device that interrupts the electron flow in a circuit. Switches are primarily binary devices: either fully on or off and light switches have a simple design. When the switch is turned off, the circuit breaks, and the power flow is interrupted. Circuits consist of a source of power and load.
  • Question 10
    1 / -0
    Which component is this?

    Solution
The given picture is of a $$resistance$$.
