Biodegradable wastes decompose in nature by action of microbes into simple simpler substances.

Those substance that are easily broken into simpler substances by action of bacteria are called biodegradable. Orange peels is biodegradable.

Plastic is made from petroleum(crude oil found in nature), using heat and a catalyst to change propylene to polypropylene (substance not found in nature). So microorganisms are not capable of decomposing them to usable form. Thus they are non -biodegradable.

Liquid wastes from houses are called sewage which mainly consists of waste water from kitchen and toilets.

The process of waste treatment is called as sewage treatment to remove harmful substance from water to make it portable.

Polythene and plastics are non-biodegradable(i.e they cannot be broken down or get decomposed into the soil even after thousands of years). Thus, increasing the amount of solid waste in the environment which produces bad odour harmful for inhalation. This solid waste can also cause several harmful diseases to the various land and aquatic life forms if taken by them.

Glass bottles cannot get decomposed naturally by the action of microorganisms. Thus, they are non biodegradable substances. However, they can be recycled but that too with utmost  care. 

Biodegradable wastes are generally organic in nature obtained from plant and animals.

Sewage is basically waste water produced from a community of people. So,it is in liquid form.Thus, it cannot be considered as solid was. However, sewage maintenance is a responsibility of municipal corporation. But itscbot a solid waste.

Addition of harmful substance in water leads to water pollution as it contains biological, chemical and physical pollutants.

Vegetable peels, cotton cloths and paper are plant products and organic wastes while DDT is manmade inorganic substance used as pesticides.

Bacteria that decompose organic wastes are called anaerobic bacteria as it does not require oxygen for decomposition.

As Non biodegradable items can't be decomposed easily by soil bacteria into organic and safe waste materials. To reuse them, we have to put in time,energy and expense in recycling them to a useful product.

Municipal corporation of a particular city is appointed to take care of the basic facilities to be provided to the citizens of the city in exchanged for the taxes which they pay. And sanitation (both sewer and refuse) is one of the basic service.
