3500 km. The central core has very high temperature and pressure.

The remains of the dead plants and animals trapped in the layers of rocks are called fossils. Gold, Petroleum and Coal are the examples of these fossils.

A rock is a natural mass of mineral matter that makes up the earth’s crust.

Crust is the uppermost layer of the earth's surface.

The radius of the earth is 6371 km.

Sediment is a naturally occurring material that is broken down by processes of weathering and erosion, and is subsequently transported by the action of wind, water, or ice, and/or by the force of gravity acting on the particles.

Sandstone is made from grains of sand. These rocks may also contain fossils of plants, animals and other micro-organisms that once lived on them.

Rocks have a very fine grained structure for example basalt. The Deccan plateau is made up of basalt rocks.
