    It is known that the volume of a cuboid is given by: Length × Breadth × Height

    ∴ External volume of the box = 50 cm × 35 cm × 20 cm = 35000 cm3

    Internal volume of the box = 46 cm × 31 cm × 16 cm = 22816 cm3

    ∴Volume of the metal used = External volume − Internal volume

    = 35000 cm3 −22816 cm3

    = 12184 cm3

    Thus, the volume of the metal used is 12184 cm3.

    The correct answer is A.
