  • Question 14
    1 / -0

Which of the following option represents the sum of the roots of the polynomial \(x^{2}-(\sqrt{2}+\sqrt{3}) x+\sqrt{6}=0\)?

    Solution

    The given polynomial is,

    \(x^{2}-(\sqrt{2}+\sqrt{3}) x+\sqrt{6}=0\)

Comparing the above equation with \(ax^2+bx+c=0\), we get,

    \(a=1,b=-(\sqrt{2}+\sqrt{3}) \) and \(c=\sqrt 6\)

We know that, sum of roots of a quadratic polynomial is \(=-\frac{b}{a}\)

Therefore, sum of roots of the given polynomial \(=-\frac{[-(\sqrt{2}+\sqrt{3})]}{1}=(\sqrt{2}+\sqrt{3})\)

Hence, the correct option is (D).

  • Question 15
    1 / -0
