The rate of evaporation increases with an increase in temperature. With the increase in temperature, more and more particles acquire the required amount of kinetic energy and change into the vapour state. The temperature of heating is the highest for beaker III, followed by beaker II, and then beaker I. Hence, the rate of evaporation varies in the same order.

The space between the particles of solid is less than that between the particles of liquid and gas. Therefore, a chair (solid state) will have minimum space between its particles in comparison to air (gaseous state), water (liquid state), and alcohol (liquid state).

The particles of gas have maximum space between them. Thus, gases have the highest compressibility among the three states of matter. Since nitrogen is a gas, it will have the highest compressibility than water (liquid), rubber (solid), and sponge (solid).

Since substances Y and Z are compressible, they can either be a liquid or a gas. Y has definite volume but indefinite shape. Therefore, Y has to be a liquid. Z neither has a definite shape nor a definite volume. Therefore, Z is a gas. Hence, X is a solid.

When hot, dry air from the outside passes through the moist bed sheet, some water particles get absorbed by it and change into vapours through evaporation. The water present in the bed sheet absorbs the heat from the air and changes into water vapours. As a result of this evaporative cooling, the air becomes cooler.

The particles of matter are in continuous motion i.e., they possess kinetic energy. When potassium permanganate crystals are added to water, they start dissolving. After the particles have dissolved, they start moving in all directions within the volume of solution. Soon the particles spread equally in the entire solution and the complete solution becomes coloured.
