The concept which is concentrated on human beings is called anthropo-centric. Countries like India are a part of this concept whereas Western countries have euro-centric approach.

Life expectancy is more in females as compared to males.

Marginalised sections of the society are females, scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and agricultural labourers.

Early man was totally dependent upon the nature because of less development of science and technology.

Human development is a process of enlarging the range of people 's choices.

The data of poverty for the states show that there are States like Orissa and Bihar which have recorded more than 40 percent of their population living below the poverty line.

There are large rural areas and the slums in the urban areas that do not have basic amenities like potable water, education and health infrastructure available to a majority of population.

Human development is not possible without economic prosperity. Economically, a country will prosper, only if it has productivity.

According to Census 2011, Kerala has the highest total literacy rate and female literacy rate whereas Lakshadweep had the highest male literacy rate. Bihar has the lowest total literacy rate and male literacy rates while Rajasthan has the lowest female literacy rate.

Human development includes living a long and healthy life, to be educated and have access to resources needed for a decent standard of living. These are considered important aspects of human development.
