  • Question 1
    5 / -1

Harish is 27th from the left end of a row of 49 boys and Mahesh is 27th from the right end in the same row. How many boys are there between them in the row?

    Solution

Total Number of students = 49

    Harish's position from the left = 27

Mahesh position from the Right = 27

When the total number is less than the addition of rank from both the end. Then middle numbers between the persons are:

Middle numbers = (Rank from left + Rank from right) - (Total number + 2)

Number of boys between Mahesh and Harish = Position of Harish from the left + Position of Mahesh from the Right - (Total students + 2)

    = 27 + 27 - (49 + 2)

    = 54 - 51

    = 3

Hence, "3" is the correct answer.

  • Question 2
    5 / -1

Each of the seven friends, Kirti, Siya, Amita, Preeti, Deepika, Jeet and Pari, has scored different marks in an exam. Pari has scored more than Kirti but less than Siya. Deepika has scored less than Preeti but more than Amita. Kirti has scored more than Preeti but less than Pari. Siya is not the highest scorer.

Who among the following has NOT scored more than Preeti?

    Solution

    As per the given information:

    1. Pari has scored more than Kirti but less than Siya.

    Siya > Pari > Kriti

    2. Deepika has scored less than Preeti but more than Amita

    Preeti > Deepika > Amita

    3. Kirti has scored more than Preeti but less than Pari. Siya is not the highest scorer.

    Jeet > Siya > Pari > Kriti > Preeti > Deepika > Amita

Here, Preeti scored more than Deepika and Amita.

Hence, the correct answer is "Option (4)".

  • Question 3
    5 / -1

Some children are sitting in a row facing north. Among those, Sameer is 17th from the left and second to the right of Jay, who is 15th from the right of the row, then how many children are there in the row ?

    Solution

    Given,

Some children are sitting in a row facing north.

Among those, Sameer is 17th from the left and second to the right of Jay, who is 15th from the right of the row.

    Therefore,

Here we there are total 29 children in the row.

Hence, the correct answer is 29.

  • Question 4
    5 / -1

Six friends A, B, C, D, E and F, have different heights. A is taller than only C and E. B is shorter than D but D is not the tallest among them. Who is the tallest among them all?

    Solution

    Given:

    Six students - A, B, C, D, E and F

    1) A is taller than only C and E.

    > _ > _ > A > C/E > C/E

    2) B is shorter than D but D is not the tallest among them.

Only F is left so F is tallest than D and B

    > D > B > A > C/E > C/E

Thus, “F” is the tallest among all the friends.

Hence, the correct answer is "F".

  • Question 5
    5 / -1

A doctor plans to visit 6 hospitals A, B, C, D, E, and F exactly once during the course of the day on the following conditions:

    1. He visits B before D

    2. He visits A before B and E

    3. He must visit C thirdly

If he visits F first, then which hospital should the doctor visit second?

    Solution

    Six hospitals - A, B, C, D, E, and F.

    1. He visits B before D.

    B > D

    2. He visits A before B and E.

    A > B and E

    3. He must visit C thirdly

    _ > _ > C > _ > _ > _

If he visits F first, then the possible arrangements of his visits to hospital is shown below:

    F > A > C > B > D > E

    F > A > C > E > B > D

    F > A > C > B > E > D

Clearly, the doctor should visit hospital A second.

Hence, 'A' is the correct answer.

    4) Mercedes is not the cheapest car.

    BMW > Ferrari > Mercedes > Kia > _

Hence, Nano is the cheapest car.

  • Question 8
    5 / -1

In a group of 155 students, Rajiv’s rank is 40th from the top and Arti’s rank is 34th from the bottom. How many students are there in between Rajiv and Arti (if no two persons got the same rank)?

    Solution

Here, the number of students is greater than the sum of the ranks of Rajiv and Arti.

Therefore, the number of students in between them = 155 – (sum of the ranks of Rajiv and Arti)

    = 155 – (40 + 34) = 81

Hence "option 2" is the correct answer.

  • Question 9
    5 / -1

Rama ranks 16th from the top and 15th from the bottom in a certain examination. How many students are there in the class ?

    Solution

Rama ranks 16th from the top and 15th from the bottom in a certain examination.

Number of students in the class = Rank from the top + rank from the bottom - 1

    Number of students in the class = 15 + 16 - 1

    = 31 - 1

    = 30

Hence, ‘30’ is the correct answer.

  • Question 10
    5 / -1

In a class of 60, the number of girls are twice that of boys. A boy named Kamal ranked seventeenth from the top. If there are nine girls ahead of Kamal, how many boys are behind him in rank?

    Solution

    Given statement;

Total strength of class = 60

    Boys : Girls = 1 : 2

This means 20 boys and 40 girls are there in the class.

The rank of Kamal from the top is 17th.

which means 16 students are ahead of Kamal and nine are girls. So seven are boys.

    Total boys = 20

    ahead of Kamal = 7

    Behind Kamal = 20 - 7 - 1(kamal) = 12 boys. (Kamal is a boy so he will also be counted

Hence, there are 12 boys behind kamal.
