  • Question 1

A person left a city P to city Q in the car at 8.00 a.m. He travelled at a speed of 90 km/hr for 3 hours. After that the speed was reduced to 80 km/hr. If the distance between the cities is 510 kms., at what time did he reach city Q?

    Solution

    Given:

    Speed = 90 km/hr

    Reduced Speed = 80 km/hr

    Distance = 510 km

    Starting time = 8.00 a.m

    Formulae used:

Time to travel = 3 hr

So, they travel for 3 hour already

    So, total time = 3 + 3 = 6hr

Add this 6 hr In 8:00 am

    Time at he reaches Q destination = 8 + 3 + 3 = 2:00 pm

  • Question 2

Find the ages of Anil, Bini, and Chaya in order (in years) as the average age of Anil and Bini is 20 years and if Anil is to be replaced by Chaya, the average would be 19 years and the average age of Chaya and Anil is 21 years.

Two printing machines A and B can print 2400 high-quality pages working 5hrs in 5 days. Machine A can print as many pages in 2.5hrs as machine B can print in 1.5 hrs. How many pages can machine B print in 1 hour?

    Solution

    Given:

    Pages printed by A and B = 2400

    Hours of work = 5

    Days of work = 5

    A’s 2.5 hrs work = B’s 1.5 hrs work

    We know that,

Total unit of work = Work done by (A + B) in 1 hour × No of hours of work in 1 day × No of days of work

    ∵ A’s 2.5 hrs work = B’s 1.5 hrs work

    ⇒ A × 2.5 = B × 1.5

    Let, A’s one hour’s work = 3x

    B’s one hours work = 5x

    ∴ (5x + 3x) × 5hr × 5 days = 2400 pages

    ⇒ 8x × 5 × 5 = 2400

    ⇒ x = 12

    ∴ Pages printed by B in 1 hour = 5x = 5 × 12 = 60 pages.✅

  • Question 4
    4 / -1

The least perfect square, which is divisible by each of 21, 36, and 66 is:

    Solution

    As given,

    L.C.M. of 21, 36, 66 = 2772

    Now, 2772 = 2 × 2 × 3 × 3 × 7 × 11

To make it a perfect square, it must be multiplied by 7 × 11.

    So, the required number

    = 22 × 32 × 72 × 112

    = 213444 ✅

  • Question 5

Find the total quantity of mixture when some amount of mixture taken out.

The product of two numbers is 4107. If the H.C.F. of these numbers is 37, then the greater number is:

    Solution

Let the numbers be 37a and 37b

    Then, 37a × 37b = 4107

    ⇒ ab = 3

    Now, co-primes with product 3 are (1, 3)

    So, the required numbers are (37 × 1, 37 × 3) i.e., (37, 111)

    ∴ Greater number = 111 ✅
