Within the pattern every shape must appear 5 times. There are 5 black stars,  white clouds, 5 black clouds, 5 suns and 5 moons. There are 5 lightning bolts in the pattern so the correct answer is D – we do not need any further lightning bolts. If there was an option with66 new shapes in this could be a feasible answer but within the options given, D is correct. 

The large blue cross contains one white cross in the first box. As the sequence progresses, the number of white crosses increases by one each time. There is also a circle that is placed next to the box. This moves around the box one place at a time in a clockwise direction.

In this question, the number of suns in a box is always the same as the number of clouds in the same box. Box F is the only box with the same number of clouds and suns, making it the correct answer.

In this sequence there are two changes happening at each step (unrelated). The shape on the left moves 90 degrees clockwise with each step. The figure on the right is one vertical line with three horizontal lines next to it. With each step, a horizontal line shifts from one side of the vertical line to the other. The line that moves goes in a sequence from bottom line through to the top line and then back down to the middle, the bottom and so on.

The correct answer is Set B because the arrow is pointing to a square. This is the common feature for all six of the Set B blocks. The position, size and colour of each of the blocks doesn’t affect the answer.

In this question, the circle rotates clockwise 45 degrees as you move down the sequence.

Imagine that the blue shapes form part of a large blue circle. As the sequence progresses two more ‘slices’ of the circle are taken away, revealing more white underneath. The cross in the middle of the diagram alternates between being shaded and being white at each step in the sequence. Finally, there is a dot that moves around the box in a clockwise direction.

If we only knew the first rule about the slices of the circle being taken away, we could narrow down the correct options to A, B and F. Only A and B have a white cross in the middle and finally, option B has the outerdot in the correct place.

There are TWO rules impacting this question. The grid is divided into three parts and there are two patterns within the overall shape that move around the grid. The first pattern is the two shaded blocks. They start in the left hand third of the grid and with each stage in the sequence they move one place – first to the right and when they reach the end they move back towards the left. The second pattern is two short horizontal lines. They start in the right hand third of the grid. Unlike the shaded pattern, they only move on every other stage in the sequence. This means they stay where they are for the first two stages and then move one place to the left (the middle third of the grid). They stay there for two stages before progressing to the left hand third of the grid.

The rule in this question is that the number of right facing arrows in the bottom box must equal the number of horizontal black lines in the box above.

There are two right facing arrows in the box below the question mark and Option C is the only option with two lines in thus making it the correct answer.

There is only one rule in this question; the shapes in the left column must all be the same and the shapes in the right column must all be the same. Also, there must be the same number of shapes in the left and the right columns.
