  • Question 1
    1 / -0

The boxes run in a sequence from left to right. You must determine which box (from options A to F) goes in the missing part of the sequence.

    Solution

Think of this question as consisting of three columns. Each column contains two parallel lines that remain at the same height in the box. As the sequence progresses though, each column takes it in turn for the parallel lines to become an L shape. The left hand column does this first, then the middle column then the right hand column. The L shape then returns to the left column, then the middle etc.

  • Question 2
    1 / -0

Which is the next logical image in the sequence?

    Solution

Each block in the series contains a diagonal row of three circles: one small; one medium; and one large. At each step in the series, firstly the colour of these circles changes: white changes to grey; black changes to white; and grey changes to black. Secondly, the size of each circle changes: small changes to medium; medium to large; and large to small.

Also note that Block 1 and 4 of the series are the same, as are 2 and 5; therefore 3 match 6.

    Correct Answer; E

  • Question 3
    1 / -0

The boxes run in a sequence from left to right. You must determine which box (from options A to F) goes in the missing part of the sequence.

    Solution

There are three rules impacting this question. The first one is that as the sequence progresses one more circle turns from shaded to white. So in the first box there is just one white circle, in the second there are two and so on. The second rule applies to the arrow in the bottom right hand corner. This turns 90 degrees clockwise with each step in the sequence. The third and final rule relates to the blue shaded line at the top of the box. It moves from partially shaded to completely shaded and then not shaded at all. It then reverts back to partial shading, then complete then none. Option D meets all three rules and is therefore the correct response.

  • Question 4
    1 / -0

Which is the next logical image in the sequence?

    Solution

Each block in the series contains three rows of three circles, two of which never move - one in the centre and one in the bottom left of the box. At each step in the series the black circle that starts in the top left spot moves along the top horizontal row, and then along the middle row – moving a single circle along each row at each step in the series. It also overlaps the existing circles.

    Correct Answer; A

  • Question 5
    1 / -0

    Select answer

    Solution

The correct answer is Set A because the arrow is pointing to a circle. This is the common feature for all six of the Set A blocks. The position, size and colour of each of the figures doesn’t affect the answer.

    Correct Answer; Set A

  • Question 6
    1 / -0

Which is the next logical image in the sequence?

    Solution

    Correct Answer; C

  • Question 7
    1 / -0

    Select answer

    Solution

Neither, since there is no central block i.e. neither a square (the common feature of all Set B blocks), nor is it a circle (the common feature of all Set A blocks).

    Correct Answer; Neither

  • Question 8
    1 / -0

Which is the next logical image in the sequence?

    Solution

There are two sets of figures: one figure moves from each row at each step of the series: (i) The first figure in the top row moves to the end of the second row; and (ii) The first figure in the bottom row moves to the end of the first row of figures.

    Correct Answer; D

  • Question 9
    1 / -0

The bottom boxes create a rule that has to be applied in the box directly above them. Select which of options A to F correspond to the rule below the box with the question mark.

    Solution

In this question, the number of shaded boxes in the grid below, represents the number of places the 'circle of shapes' (above) must move in the next step of the sequence. For example, the first grid has just one shaded square. You will notice that in the second step in the sequence, all of the shapes have moved around one position in a clockwise direction. At the third step, you will see that there are 5 shaded squares in the grid. This means that in the following step in the sequence, the shapes remain in the sameposition as this equates to moving five spaces. There are four shaded boxes in the penultimate grid, therefore the correct answer must be D as the circle of shapes has moved around four spaces.

  • Question 10
    1 / -0

In the pattern below, one image is missing. Please select which is the correct option from A to F to complete it.

    Solution

In this question the right hand image in each row always contains the shapes from the first two images in the same row.

The shape from image one is placed in the bottom of the right hand image and its’ colour is reversed.

The shape from image two is placed in the top of the right hand image and its’ colour stays the same.

The missing shape therefore contains a white diamond at the bottom (the reversed shape from image one) and a black triangle at the top (the exact same shape as image two).
