Match column I with column II

    Column I

    a) Pyrolysis

    b) Carbon monoxide

    c) Blue baby syndrome

    d) Black foot syndrome

    Column II

    (i) Methemoglobinemia

    (ii) chronic exposure to arsenic

    (iii) asphyxia and giddiness

    (iv) Disposal of hospital- waste

    Solution

Pyrolysis is a thermochemical decomposition of organic wastes. Hospital waste is usually decomposed by this method. Carbon monoxide causes asphyxia (deficient oxygen supply to the body) and giddiness. Blue baby syndrome is caused by Methemoglobinemia (Methemoglobin is the haemoglobin containing Fe ³⁺instead of normal Fe ²⁺). These gametes can be flagellated and similar in size (as in Chlamydomonas) or non-flagellated (non-motile) but similar in size (as in Spirogyra). Such reproduction is called isogamous. Fusion between one large, non-motile (static) female gamete and a smaller, motile male gamete is termed oogamous, e.g., Volvox, Fucus.
