Name the four classes of bones?

    Solution

Bones are divisible into four classes: Long, Short, Flat, and Irregular. The long bones are found in the limbs, and each consists of a body or shaft and two extremities. Some of the irregular bones are vertebrae, sacrum, coccyx, temporal, sphenoid, maxilla, palatine, inferior nasal concha, mandible and hyoid. Flat bones are composed of two thin layers of compact tissue enclosing between them variable quantity of cancellous tissue. Where a part of the skeleton is intended for strength and compactness combined with limited movement, it is constructed of a number of short bones, as in the carpus and tarsus.

Two cars A and B travel along the same road in the same direction from the same starting place. Car A maintains a speed of 50 km/h and car B of 60 km/h, but B starts one hour later. How many hours will it take for B to overtake A?

    Solution

Car A is ahead of car B by 50 Km before car B leaves the starting point. In the first hour after car B leaves, car A will have traveled 120 Km, 2 Hrs × 50 km/h= 100 Km.

Remember car A left one hour before car B. Car B in the first hour from departure will have traveled 60 Km at 75 Km/h.

The third hour after departure car A will have traveled 180 km. (3 Hrs × 60 Km/h =180 Km)

Car B will be in the second hour since departure traveling at 60 Km/h. (2 Hrs× 60 Km/h= 120 Km).

Car A in its 3rd hr.has now traveled 180 km and car B in its 2nd Hr has now traveled 150 Km. Car B has now closed the distance from 60 Km to 30 Km from Car A.

In the 4th hour after departure Car, A will have traveled 240 Km. (4Hrs.× 60 Km/h= 240 Km.

Car B after leaving the starting point 1 Hr after Car A will be in its 3rd Hr of travel. ( 3 Hrs × 60 Km/h = 180 Km.

     Car A Has now completed 5 Hrs of travel and has gone 300 km. at 60 Km/h. ( 5 Hrs × 50 Km/h= 250 km).

Car B after 4 Hrs. of travel at 60 Km/h has now travelled the same distance as car A. ( 4 Hrs ×60 Km/h =240 Km).

Car B would need to complete 4 Hrs of traveling to catch up and overtake Car A who had a 50 Km head start over car B.

The correct order of acidic behaviors of the following oxoacids is:

    1. Hypochlorous acid

    2. Chlorous acid

    3. Chloric acid

    4. Perchloric acid

    Solution

Oxygen is more electronegative than chlorine. With an increase in the number of O atoms attached to Cl, more electrons are pulled away from O - H bond and more weaker becomes the O - H bond. This increases the acid strength.

The decreasing order of acidic strength is

    HClO4 > HClO3 > HClO2 > HClO.

Three blocks with masses m, 2m and 3m are connected by strings, as shown in the figure. After an upward force F is applied on block m, the masses move upward at constant speed v. What is the net force on the block of mass 2m? (g is the acceleration due to gravity).

    Solution

All blocks are moving with constant velocity so net force on all blocks are zero.

    Cell wall is absent in

    Solution

The cell wall is composed of cellulose and it is most prominent in plant cells. It provides a structural framework to the cell and provides strength and rigidity to the cell.

Mycoplasma lacks a cell wall around its plasma membrane which makes it resistant to common antibiotics such as penicillin or other beta-lactam antibiotics that target cell wall synthesis.

Exudation and guttation are due to:

    Solution

Osmotic pressure developed in the cells of roots in the root system is termed as root pressure and this supports in the rise of the cell sap towards the leaves. Root pressure results in exudation and as well as guttation.

Fluid emitted via the roots of the plants are referred to as exudates and the process is called as exudation.

Loss of impure water from plant, generally from the margins of leaves is termed as guttation. The water contains a dilute solution of different organic and inorganic substances. Guttation occurs due to low rate of transpiration and more water absorption. This higher rate of absorption develops root pressure and pushes the excess water out of the specialized pores of veins called hydathodes. Guttation is a type of exudation.

What are 3 chalazal cells called?

    Solution

The 3 chalazal cells are called antipodal cells. These are vegetative cells that provide nourishment to the embryo sac. After fertilization these cells degenerate. Internally they are connected to the central cell by plasmodesmata.

In plant ovules, the chalaza is located opposite the micropyle opening of the integuments. It is the tissue where the integuments and nucellus are joined. During the development of the embryo sac inside a flowering plant ovule, the three cells at the chalazal end become the antipodal cells.
