    A person was looking at the performance data of four companies namely A, B, C and D for the year 2014. He observed that the sale of company A for the year 2014 was twice the expenses for company D in the same year. The profit for company C in the year 2014 was 25% while its sale was Rs. 300 crore. The ratio of the sales of company B and the expenses of company D was 4:5. Also, the expenses of company B were half of the total expenses of company D in the same year.

    It was also observed that the sale of company D was Rs. 250 crore while its profit for the year was Rs. 150 crore. Also, the expenses of company A in the year 2014 were such that its profit was 50%.

    What is the profit percentage of company B in the year 2014?

    Solution

    For company C:

    Sales of company C = Rs. 300 crore and profit = 25%.

    Therefore, Expenses × (125/100) = 300

    Expenses = Rs. 240 crore.

    For company D:

    Sales = Rs. 250 crore

    Profit = Rs. 150 crore

    Expenses = 250 - 150 = Rs. 100 crore.

    For company A:

    Sales of company A in 2014 = 2 × 100 = Rs. 200 crore.

    Profit of company A = 50%

    Therefore, Expenses × (150/100) = 200

    Expenses = Rs. 400/3 = Rs. 133.33 crore.

    For Company B

    Ratio of the sales of company B to the expenses of company D = 4:5

     Therefore, sales of company =B/100 = 4/5

    Sales of company B in 2014 = Rs. 80 crore

    Expenses of company B in 2014 = Rs. 50 crore

    Therefore, profit of company B in 2014 = Rs. 30 crore

    Thus overall performance of companies can be tabulated as:

    Which word/number would be on 6th position from left side in Step V?

    Solution

    The pattern used for converting Input to final step is: Number along with adjacent word are arranged in increasing order and the remaining words are arranged in reverse dictionary order.

    Input : any number less than 30 and more than 20 does not equal 40.

    Step I : than 20 any number less than 30 and more does not equal 40.

    Step II : than 20 than 30 any number less and more does not equal 40.

    Step III : than 20 than 30 equal 40 any number less and more does not.

    Step IV : than 20 than 30 equal 40 number any less and more does not.

    Step V : than 20 than 30 equal 40 number not any less and more does.

    Step VI : than 20 than 30 equal 40 number not more any less and does.

    Step VII : than 20 than 30 equal 40 number not more less any and does.

    Step VIII : than 20 than 30 equal 40 number not more less does any and.

    Hence 40 i.e. the third option is the answer.
