Devprayag is a town and a nagar panchayat in Tehri Garhwal district in the state of Uttarakhand, India, and is one of the Panch Prayag of Alaknanda River where Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers meet and take the name Ganga or Ganges River.

The total length of river Ganga (measured along the Bhagirathi and the Hooghly) up to its outfall into Bay of Bengal is 2,525 km.
The principal tributaries joining the river from right are the Yamuna and the Son.

The Brahmaputra River, also called Yarlung Tsangpo in Tibetan language, originates on the Angsi Glacier located on the northern side of the Himalayas in Burang County of Tibet.

The Amarkantak region is a unique natural heritage area and is the meeting point of the Vindhya and the Satpura Ranges, with the Maikal Hills being the fulcrum. This is where the Narmada River, the Son River and Johila River emerge. The Narmada, also called the Rewa and previously also known as Nerbudda, is a river in central India after the Godavari, and the Krishna.

Most Deccan plateau rivers flow south. Most of the northern part of the plateau is drained by the Godavari River and its tributaries, including the Indravati River, starting from the Western Ghats and flowing east towards the Bay of Bengal.

So, it is clear that "Godavari" is the largest peninsular river.

Godavari originates near Trimbak in Nashik District of Maharashtra state and flows east across the Deccan Plateau into the Bay of Bengal near Narasapuram in West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh.

The river is also known as Dakshin Ganga and Gautami. The Manjra and Indravati rivers are its major tributaries.

The Godavari is the biggest of the east-flowing rivers of peninsular India and the largest river draining in India.
Godavari basin drains about 9.5% of India's total geographical area.

Godavari River is known as "Dakshin Ganga" since it is the largest Peninsular River like the Large Himalayan River.

It is like the ganga river in the south thus it is also called dakshin ganga.

The Wular lake is integral to the hydrological system of the Kashmir valley. It is India's largest freshwater lake and was formed as a result of the tectonic activity and is fed by the Jhelum river.

As a result of it, the flood buffering capacity of the wetland has been severely compromised.

Wular Lake (also spelt Wullar) is one of the largest fresh water lakes in Asia and largest in India.

It is sited in Bandipora district in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir.

The lake basin was formed as a result of tectonic activity and is fed by the Jhelum River. The lake's size varies seasonally from 12 to 100 square miles (30 to 260 square kilometers).

(i) Dal Lake (Srinagar) It is the most beautiful freshwater Lake in Kashmir and is surrounded by natural beauty, landscape, and water bodies. It covers an area of 18-22 sq. km. The lake is 7.44 km long, 3.5 km wide and a 6 m deep.

(ii) Nainital Lake, a natural freshwater body, situated amidst the township of Nainital in Uttarakhand State of India, tectonic in origin, is kidney shaped or crescent.

(iii) Lonar Lake, also known as Lonar crater, is a notified National Geo-heritage Monument saline. The meteor crater rim is about 1.8 kilometres (5,900 ft) in diameter. The circular depression bears a saline water lake in its central portion.

(iv) Kolleru Lake is one of the largest freshwater lakes in India located in state of Andhra Pradesh and forms the largest shallow freshwater lake in Asia.

Bhakra Dam is a concrete gravity dam on the Sutlej River in Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh in northern India built on Guru Gobind Sagar lake.

The dam forms the Gobind Sagar reservoir.

The length of the dam (measured from the road above it) is 518.25 m and the width is 9.1 m. Its reservoir known as "Gobind Sagar" stores up to 9.34 billion cubic metres of water.
