  • Question 1

    4 boys and 3 girls spent Rs. 120 on average, of which boys spent Rs. 150 on average. The average amount spent by the girls is:

    Solution

    According to the question,

    Average:

    4B + 3G

    = Rs. 120

    Sum:

    4B + 3G

    = 120 × 7

    = Rs. 840

    Average:

    4B = 150 × 4

    = Rs. 600

    Sum of girls = 840 - 600

    = Rs. 240

    Average of girls = 240/3

    = Rs. 80

  • Question 2
    1 / -0

    The L.C.M. of two numbers is 48. The numbers are in the ratio 2 : 3. Then sum of the number is:

    Solution

    Let the numbers be 2x and 3x.

    Then, their L.C.M. = 6x.

    So, 6x = 48 or x = 8.

    ∴ The numbers are 16 and 24.

    So, required sum = (16 + 24) = 40.

  • Question 3
    1 / -0

    Reenu can do a work in 15 days. Reenu and Meenu together can do the same work in 10 days. If they got Rs. 600 for that work, find the share of Reenu and Meenu respectively.

    Solution

    Given,

    Reenu can do a work in 15 days

    Reenu and Meenu can do a work in 10 days

    Total wages = Rs. 600

    Reenu finishes the work in 15 days

    ∴ Part of work done by Reenu in one day = 1/15

    Working together they complete the work in 10 days.

    ⇒ Part of Work done by both in 1 day = 1/10

    ∴  Part of Work done by Meenu in 1 day = 1/10 – 1/15

    = 1/30

    The wages will be in ratio of their efficiency i.e.,

    Ratio of wages of Reenu: Meenu = 1/15 : 1/30

    = 2 : 1

    Share of Reenu = 600 × 2/3

    = Rs. 400

    Share of Meenu = 600 –  400 = Rs. 200

    The sum (101+102+103+....+200) is equal to:

    Solution

    Sum of n terms = n/2 (a + l)

    n = number of term

    a = first no

    l = last no

    101 + 102 + 103 + ..... + 200 = 100/2 (101 + 200)

    = 50 (301) = 15050

  • Question 9

    Three numbers which are co-prime to each other are such that the product of the first two is 551 and that of the last two is 1073. The sum of the three numbers is:

    Solution

    Since the numbers are co-prime, they contain only 1 as the common factor.

    Also, the given two products have the middle number in common.

    So, middle number = H.C.F. of 551 and 1073 = 29

    ∴ Required sum = (19 + 29 + 37) = 85
