  • Question 2
    1 / -0.25

    Directions For Questions

Direction: Study the following information carefully and answer the questions given below:

Eight people Emma, Olivia, Noah, Liam, Ava, Sophia, William, and James live on different floors of an eight-story building. Each of them works for a different company viz. Sony, LG, Samsung, Wipro, Airtel, Jio, LPG, and TVs, but not necessarily in the same order. The Ground floor is numbered Floor No. 1, the floor above it Floor No. 2 and so on.

The one who works for Wipro and the one who works for Airtel are immediate neighbours. There are more than two persons between Liam and William who does not work in Samsung. Ava is the immediate neighbour of James who does not work in LG. The one who lives on the topmost floor works in LG. The immediate neighbours of Sophia don’t live on an even numbered floor and not above the one who works in LPG. Emma who works in LPG lives on an even numbered floor. The person who works in TVS lives on an even numbered floor. William and Olivia are immediate neighbours but the not immediate neighbour of Sophia and none of them works in LG. There are more than two persons between Sophia and Emma. The one who works in Jio does not live on an even numbered floor. There are more than three persons between Emma and the one who works in Jio. Neither William nor Sophia works in TVS or Wipro.

  • Question 3
    1 / -0.25

A 20' × 14' (in foot)wall is to be painted leaving out a window on it measuring 7' × 4'(in foot). If the rate of painting is Rs. 10 per square foot, what will be the cost of painting?

    Solution

    Area of wall = 20 × 14 = 280  square foot

    Area of window = 7 × 4 = 28  square foot

Area to be painted = Area of wall - Area of window = 280 - 28 = 252  square foot

Rate of painting = Rs. 10 per square foot

    ∴ The cost of painting = Area to be painted × Rate of painting = 252 × 10 = Rs. 2520

∴ The cost of painting is Rs. 2520.

  • Question 4
    1 / -0.25

Identify the correct answer containing letters which will most approximately fill in the blanks. aba __ ab __ b __ ba __

    Solution

    Let’s check each option,

    (A) a, a, a, b → abaaabababab→ no pattern is formed.

    (B) b, a, b, a → ababababbbaa→ no pattern is formed.

    (C) b, a, a, b → abababababab→ pattern is formed as ab / ab/ab / ab / ab / ab

    (D) a, b, b, b → abaaabbbbbab→ no pattern is formed.

    So, letters (b, a, a, b) completes the pattern.

  • Question 5
    1 / -0.25

A left home and cycled 10 km towards north, then turned right and cycled 5 km and then again turned right and cycled 10 km. After this he tumed left and cycled 10 km. How many kilometers and in which direction will he have to cycle to reach his home straight?

    Solution

Distance to cover to reach back to his home = 10 Km + 5 Km = 15 Km. And to return back, he would have to cycle from the end point to the initial point which is in the West direction with respect to the final point. Thus, he would have to cycle 15 Km West to reach his home.

  • Question 6
    1 / -0.25

If in a certain code language, 'four' is called 'five', 'five' is called 'six', 'six' is called 'seven', 'seven' is called 'eight', 'eight' is called 'nine' and 'nine' is called 'ten'. Then what is cube of the number 2?

    Solution

    According to the given information:

    Word

    Code

    four

    five

    five

    six

    six

    seven

    seven

    eight

    eight

    nine

    nine

    ten

So, the cube of the number 2 is 8.

But in the statement, 'eight' is called 'nine'.

So, the correct answer is "Nine".

  • Question 7
    1 / -0.25

Direction: In the question below is given a statement followed by two conclusions numbered I and II. You have to assume everything in the statement to be true, then consider the two conclusions together and decide which of them logically follows beyond a reasonable doubt from the information given in the statement.

Statements: The old order changed yielding place to new.

    Conclusions:

    I. Change is the law of nature.

II. Discard old ideas because they are old.

    Solution

Clearly, I directly follows from the given statement. Also, it is mentioned that old ideas are replaced by new ones, as thinking changes with the progressing time. So, II does not follow.

  • Question 8

    Directions For Questions

Direction: In the following question, select the number which can be placed at the sign of question mark (?) from the given alternatives.

    ...view full instructions

    Solution

    According to the question,

    3 + 2 + 5 + 4 + 1 + 7 = 22

    1 + 2 + 7 + 6 + 4 + 2 = 22

    Similarly,

    2 + 1 + 3 + 11 + 1 + 4 = 22

    First row:

    3 × 4 × 2

    = 24 - 1

    = 23

    Second row:

    7 × 2 × 3

    = 42 - 1

    = 41

    Similarly,

    Third row:

    8 × 2 × 3

    = 48 - 1

    = 47

  • Question 10

Select the number that can replace the question mark (?) in the following series.

    122, 101, 82, 65, 50, ?

    Solution

    The logic follows here is;

Thus, "37" is the next term of the series.

  • Question 11

Direction: Choose the alternative that has the same relationship to \(16\) as \(12\) has with \(168 .\)

    \(12: 168::16: ?\)

    Solution

    The pattern followed here is:

    \(12 \times 14=168\)

    Similarly,

    \(16 \times 14=224\)

  • Question 12

    Directions For Questions

Direction: In the following questions below are given some statements followed by some given conclusions. Statements:

    Most wickets are bolds.

    A few bolds are out.

    No out is lbw.

    Only LBW is DRS.

    Conclusions:

    I. Few wickets are LBW is a possibility.

II. Few Bolds are LBW is a possibility.

    Solution

The only possible Venn diagram for the given statements is as follows:

    Conclusions:

    I. Few wickets are LBW is a possibility → It’s sure, so it is true.

II.Few Bolds are LBW is a possibility → It’s sure, so it is true.

    Directions For Questions

Direction: In the following questions below are given some statements followed by some given conclusions. Statements:

    Some people are female.

    All females are males.

Only a few males are weak.

    No weak is strong.

    Conclusions:

    I. Some people are weak.

    II. No strong is weak.

    III. Some males are weak.

    IV. All weak are male.

    Solution

The least possible Venn diagram for the given statements is as follows:

    Conclusions:

    I. Some people are weak → False (It is possible but not definite)

II. No strong is weak → True (No weak is strong)

III. Some males are weak → True (Only a few males are weak)

IV. All weak are male → False (It is possible but not definite)

Thus, only conclusions II and III follow.

  • Question 15
    1 / -0.25

Direction: The sheet of paper shown in figure (x) given on the left-hand side, of each problem, is folded to form a box. Choose from amongst the alternatives (1), (2), (3), and (4), the boxes that are similar to the box that will be formed.

Choose the box that is similar to the box formed from the given sheet of paper (x).

    Solution

The figure (x) is similar to Figure (1). So, when the sheet shown in figure (x) is folded to form a box (cuboid), then the two rectangular-shaded faces lie opposite to each other, two rectangular white faces lie opposite to each other and the two square-shaped faces (one shaded and one white) lie opposite to each other. Clearly, the cuboids shown in figures (2) and (4) cannot be formed as in each of the two cuboids the two shaded rectangular faces appear adjacent to each other. So, only the cuboids in figures (1) and (3) can be formed.
