At what time between 5.30 and 6 will the hands of a clock be at right angles?

    Solution

At 6pm, angle between the two hands = 180 degrees. Thus, the minute hand must lose 90 degrees over the hour hand.

The minute hand gain 5 1/2 degrees over the hour hand every minute

    So, it will gain 90 degrees in 90 x 2/11 = 16 4/11 minutes

So, 60 - 16 4/11 minutes before 6, the hands will be at right angles

This is same as 43 7/11 minutes past 5

Which board is placed between Red and Pink boards?

    Solution

The Blue board is at the extreme end, but the Violet board is placed at the immediate left of the blue, board. So, the Blue Board is at the extreme left and the Yellow board is the third from the left. As the Red board is between the Green and the Yellow board, the Green board is at the extreme left with a banana on it, the Red board is to the immediate right of the Green Board. The Pink board is the fourth from the right with a watermelon on it and hence the Orange is on the Red board.

From condition (4), we get the arrangement as:

Green Red Yellow Pink Violet Blue

Banana or Guava/Papaya Watermelon Papaya/Guava Apple

Yellow board s placed between Red and Pink board. Hence. (c)

  • Question 6

In a six – floor apartment, six families stay each on one floor. The families are Ahmad, Bhushan, Chadda, Dwivedi, Endla and Faizal. The Ahmads stay between the Chaddas and the Endlas. The Endlas stays above the Dwivedis. The Bhushans stay on the first floor. The Chaddas stay below the Faizals. Which family stays immediately above the Dwivedis and two floors below the Chaddas?

    Solution

    Solution :

Let us denote the families by the following letters:

    Ahmads as ‘A’;Bhushans as ‘B’;Chaddas as ‘C’;Dwivedis as ‘D’;Endlas as ‘E’;Faizals as ‘F’

    Family A stays between families C and E. i.e.,

    C E

    A OR A

    E C

    Family E stays above family

    i.e., E, D

    By combining above conditions,

    C

    A

    E

    D

B stays on the 1st floor. Family C stays below F i.e., F By combining all conditions,

    F

    C

    A

    E

    D

    B

Now, clearly Family E is above family D and two floors below family C. Hence, (d).

non-yellow birds were seen in all?

    Solution

Statement 1: Each of them saw one bird that none of the others did

Statement 2: Each pair saw one bird that the third did not

Statement 3: one bird was seen by all three

Now as per the other Condition:

Now Chetan saw 4 birds who were Yellow.

Now Abdul and Chetan have 2 birds in common and similarly mala and chetan have 2 bird in common and Abdul, Chetan and mala have 1 bird in common. Thus, there are 5 yellow birds and 2 non yellow bird.

Read the information below to answer the question that follows:

Fact 1: Ramesh has four vehicles.

Fact 2: Two of the vehicles are black.

Fact 3: One of the vehicles is a SUV.

    ...view full instructions

If the first three statements are facts, which of the following statements must also be a fact?

I: Ramesh has a Black SUV.

    II: Ramesh has three cars.

III: Ramesh's favorite color is black.

    Solution

There is not enough information to support any of the statements. Ramesh is known to have a SUV, but it is not known which of his vehicles is black. Ramesh may have any vehicle, so the second statement cannot be supported. There is no way to know if Ramesh's favorite color is black (statement III)

In a cloth store, there are three boxes containing hats. The boxes are labelled incorrectly. The labels read Red hats, Green hats and Red & Green Hats. If you are allowed to choose a box, what is the minimum number of times that you will have to draw a hat from that box to correctly determine the contents of every box?

    Solution

You should pick up only one box labelled as Red & Green Hats. Suppose it has green hats; it means that this box will have green hats only. Now the one which has been labelled as Red will have Red & Green both. And the one which has been labelled as Green will have Red hats.
