    Q....R ––...U

    P S...T ––

    Option (c) Two

  • Question 2
    2 / -0.5

Direction : Read the following information carefully and answer the question below it.

    Q. If Rat is called Dog', ‘Dog is called Mongoose', ‘Mongoose’ is called Lion;, ‘Lion Is called Snake’ and 'Snake is catted Elephant’, which animal is reared as pet?

    Solution

'Dog' is reared as pet. But 'Dog' is called 'Mongoose'. So, a 'Mongoose' is reared as pet.

  • Question 3
    2 / -0.5

Direction : Read the following information carefully and answer the question below it.

    Q. In a certain code language, ‘kew xas huma deko' means ‘she is eating apples’, ’kew tepo qua’ means ‘she sells toys’ and 'su lim deko’ means ‘I like apples’. Which word in that language means she and apples?

    Solution

In the 1st and 2nd statements, the common code word is kew and the common word is she.

  • Question 4
    2 / -0.5

Direction : Read the following information carefully and answer the question below it.

    Q. If ‘gnr tag zog qmp ’stands for ‘Seoul Olympic Organising Committee, ‘hydro gnr emf stands for 'Summer Olympic Games 'and 'esm sdr hyto 'stands for 'Modern Games History ’, which would be the code for Summer?

    Solution

    Correct answer is emf.

  • Question 5
    2 / -0.5

Direction : A cube is divided into 216 identical cubelets. Each cut is made parallel to some surface of cube. But before cutting the cube is colored with green color on one set of opposite faces, red on the other set of opposite faces and blue on the third set.

    Q. How many cubelets are there which are painted with at least two color?

    Solution

Because cube was painted with same color on opposite set of faces. We can still used formula.

    [(n-2) + 2]3 = 3 Co (n-2)3 + 3 C1 (n-2)2 x 2 + 3 C2 (n-2) x 22 +3 C3 x 23

Basically we are looking for no. of cubes which colored on two faces or three face

    = 3 C2 (n-2) x 22 + 3 C3 x 23

    = 3 x ( n - 2) x 4 + 8

    = 3 x 4 x 4 + 8 = 56

    Option (b)

  • Question 6
    2 / -0.5

Direction : A cube is divided into 216 identical cubelets. Each cut is made parallel to some surface of cube. But before cutting the cube is colored with green color on one set of opposite faces, red on the other set of opposite faces and blue on the third set.

    Q. How many cubits ere there which are painted with at most one color?

    Solution

Because cube was painted with same color on opposite set of faces. We can still used formula.

    [(n-2) + 2]3 = 3 Co (n-2)3 + 3 C1 (n-2)2 x 2 + 3 C2 (n-2) x 22 +3 C3 x 23

Basically in this question we are looking for no. of cubeit, which are colored on just one face.

    =3 C0 (n-2)3 +3 C1 (n-2)2 x 2

    = (n-2)3 + 3 x 2 x (n-2)2

    = 43+ 6 x 42

    ⇒ 64 + 96 = 160.

Alternatively : Total no. cubelets which are colored an at most are face - total no. of cube lets - total no. of cube let's which are colored on multiple faces. = 216 - 56 = 160.

  • Question 7
    2 / -0.5

Direction : A cube is painted and then divided cut into 336 smaller but identical pieces by making the minimum number of cuts possible. All cuts are parallel to some face.

    Q. How many smaller pieces have exactly 3 painted faces?

    Solution

    Number of Identical pieces 336 = 8 x 7 x 6. Hence we need 7 cuts in Z-direction, 6 cuts in Y-direction, 5-cuts In X-directions.

Means our cube cut into 8 parts along Z-direction say nz = 8, similarly nY = 7, nx = 6.

For total number of identical pieces we can say nx x nY x nz = 336.

    {(nx - 2) + 2} x {(nY - 2) + 2} x {(nz - 2) + 2}

    Now look at table below:

All pieces from corners of cube = 8

  • Question 8
    2 / -0.5

Direction : A cube is painted and then divided cut into 336 smaller but identical pieces by making the minimum number of cuts possible. All cuts are parallel to some face.

    Q. How many smaller pieces have at most one face painted?

    {(nx - 2) + 2} x {(nY - 2) + 2} x {(nz - 2) + 2}

    Now look at table below:

    No. faces painted + one face painted = 120 + 148 = 268

  • Question 9
    2 / -0.5

Ram a college student is facing north-west. He turns 90° in the clockwise direction and then 135° in the anticlockwise direction. Which direction is he facing = now?

    Solution

As shown in Fig., Ram initially faces in the direction OP. On moving 90° clockwise, he faces in the direction OQ. On further moving 135° anticlockwise, he faces in the direction OR, which is West.

  • Question 10
    2 / -0.5

Neelesh leaves for his office from his house. He walks towards East. After moving a distance of 20 m, he turns towards South and walks 10 m. Then he walks 35 m towards the West and further. 5 m towards the North. He then turns towards East and walks 15 m. What, is the straight distance in m between his initial and final positions?

    Solution

The movement of Neelesh from A to F are as shown in Fig.

Clearly, DC = AB + EF.

    ∴ F is in line with A.

    Also, AF = (BC - DE) = 5m.

So, Neelesh is 5 m away from his initial position.
