Ammonia: Anhydrous ammonia gas is lighter than air. However, in the presence of moisture (such as high relative humidity), the liquefied anhydrous ammonia gas forms vapors that are heavier than air. Methane, Hydrogen and helium Nitrogen are also lighter than air.

Lactic acid is found primarily in sour milk products, such as koumiss, laban, yogurt, kefir, and some cottage cheeses. The casein in fermented milk is coagulated (curdled) by lactic acid. Lactic acid is also responsible for the sour flavor of sourdough bread.

Corrosion of the water side of the boiler may occur in three ways, by oxidation, by electrolytic dissolution and by acid attack.
