Online Registration Process: Step by Step Guide
- Visit the official portal: https://navodaya.gov.in
- Go to the Admissions section and click on the “Class 6 Admission 2026” link.
- Check Eligibility – Students and parents should read the information booklet (prospectus) carefully.
- Fill Online Form – Fill in the details of State, District, Block, Aadhaar Number, APAAR ID, PEN Number etc.
- Upload Documents – Upload photo, signature of student and parent, Aadhaar card or residence certificate.
Required Documents (between 10–100 KB in JPG format):
- Student’s Photograph
- Signature of Student
- Signature of Parent
- Aadhar Card/Residence Certificate (issued by Government institution)
Special Instructions: Eligibility, Category, and Other Rules
- NIOS students must have a ‘B Certificate’ and must be a permanent resident of the district in which the student is taking admission.
- The registration process is completely free and can be done from mobile, laptop, desktop or tablet.
- Help desks will be present in all JNVs that will help students in filling the application.

How to fill in rural/urban area details?
- If the student has studied in class 3, 4, and 5 in a school in rural area, he/she will be counted in rural category.
- If the school is in urban area, the student will fall in urban category.
- Rural areas will be considered as those defined by any government notification.
Verification Process after Selection
- After the result is declared, the following information will be verified for the selected students:
- Date of Birth
- Residential status of the district
- District of study (Class 3 to 5)
- Category: Rural/Urban, SC/ST/OBC/Divyang etc.
- All the certificate verification will be done as per the respective rules.
