NSO Exam Pattern 2026

The National Science Olympiad (NSO) Class 6 exam is conducted by the Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF). This exam tests students' knowledge of science, logical reasoning, problem-solving, and analytical thinking. The NSO exam is conducted in two levels (Level 1 and Level 2).

The question paper is revised according to the NEP (2020), NCF (2023), NCERT, and CBSE guidelines.

NSO Class 6 Exam Syllabus

Section 1 (Reasoning): Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning Question.

Section 2 (Science):

• Food and its Components
• Materials Around Us
• States of Water & Methods of Separation
• The World of Living (Plants & Animals, Adaptations, Life Cycle)
• Exploring Magnets
• Measurement of Length and Motion
• Temperature & its Measurement
• Beyond Earth
• Natural Resources (Air, Water, Forests, Soil, Fossil Fuels, Minerals)

Section 3 (Achievers Section): Higher-Order Thinking (HOTS) questions, which will be from the current class syllabus only.

Important Notes

60% of the questions in the Level 1 exam will be from the current class (Class 6) and 40% from the previous class (Class 5).

• The questions in the Level 2 exam will be from the current class (Class 6).
• The questions in the Achievers section will also be from the current class (Class 6).
