Why Is CBSE Organising This Webcast?
CBSE wants to ensure clarity and uniformity in how exams are conducted and answer sheets are evaluated across all centres. With such a large number of students appearing across India and abroad, the board wants all schools to follow the same examination guidelines and evaluation procedures.

Key Changes Announced for CBSE Board Exams 2026
CBSE has introduced several important changes this year in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Here's a quick overview:
| Change | Details |
|---|---|
| Second Board Exam for Class 10 | CBSE will conduct a second board exam for Class 10 starting May 15, 2026 (around 15 days) |
| Section-Wise Question Papers | Science divided into Physics, Chemistry & Biology; Social Science into History, Geography, Political Science & Economics |
| On-Screen Marking (OSM) | Class 12 answer sheets will be evaluated digitally for the first time; Class 10 will continue in physical mode |
| Fewer Answer Books Per Evaluator | Reduced count to allow more time for quality checking |
| Faster Evaluation Timeline | Evaluation to be completed in 8–10 days instead of the earlier 10–12 days |
CBSE's Notice on Relieving Teachers for Evaluation
In a separate notice, CBSE has directed schools to relieve teachers immediately for evaluation duty once instructions are received from the Regional Office. The board stressed that error-free evaluation depends on the devotion, sincerity, and availability of qualified evaluators.
Teachers must be relieved full-time for the entire duration of evaluation in their subject. Schools also need to issue relieving certificates as per the prescribed format. CBSE has warned that non-compliance will invite strict action, and the results of the concerned school may not be declared if rules aren't followed.
What Happens If Schools Don't Comply?
CBSE has made it clear that any deviation will be treated seriously. Here's what schools need to keep in mind:
| Non-Compliance Issue | Possible Action |
|---|---|
| Not relieving teachers for evaluation | School results may be withheld |
| Deviation from evaluation guidelines | Treated as an attempt to disrupt the process |
| Non-adherence to board norms | Action under Examination and Affiliation Bye-Laws |
CBSE has reminded schools that if any student suffers due to non-compliance, it's the school's responsibility. The board has urged schools to ensure fairness and accuracy in the evaluation process.
