CBSE Class 10, 12 Board Exams 2026 Postponed in 7 West Asian Countries — What Students Need to Know
The CBSE has postponed board exams in parts of West Asia. The board announced on Sunday that Class 10 and Class 12 exams scheduled for Monday, March 2, 2026, will not be held as planned in Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.
The reason? The security situation in the region has deteriorated significantly over the past few days, and the CBSE did not want to risk conducting exams under such circumstances.

What exactly did CBSE say?
The CBSE issued an official circular with two important decisions. First, all Class 10 and Class 12 examinations scheduled for March 2 in the seven countries mentioned above have been postponed. The board will announce the new dates later. Second, the CBSE will assess the situation on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, and then decide on the fate of the examinations scheduled for March 5.
So right now, only exams for March 2nd have been officially canceled. Everything from March 5th onward is still uncertain—it depends on how things play out over the next few days.
What should students do now?
If you're a CBSE student in any of these countries, stay in touch with your school. They'll be the first to receive updates. Also, keep an eye out for official CBSE announcements—don't rely on rumors on social media, as a lot of misinformation spreads during such times.
Waiting is undoubtedly stressful. But use this time to continue revising. Whenever the exams arrive, you'll want to be prepared.
Why were the exams postponed?
The major issue here is the military tensions between the US, Israel, and Iran. The US and Israel carried out large-scale airstrikes targeting Iran's leadership and military infrastructure. These attacks killed Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and several senior officials.
Iran responded with missile attacks on US military bases, Israel, and other targets throughout West Asia. The situation remains volatile and unpredictable.
What is happening in Iran right now?
Following Khamenei's death, Iran has declared 40 days of national mourning. Flags are flying at half-mast across the country. Public gatherings and protests are reported in several cities, and heavy security forces have been deployed—especially in Tehran—to maintain order.
Khamenei had led Iran since 1989, taking over from the founder of the revolution, Ruhollah Khomeini. His death has raised serious questions about who will succeed him and where Iran's leadership will go from here.
The Trump administration has stated that the strikes were necessary to counter the threat posed by Iran. But the impact of this decision is being felt throughout the region—and the postponement of CBSE exams is just one of many.
When will the revised exam dates be announced?
CBSE has not yet provided a specific timeline. The board has stated that it will review the situation on March 3 and proceed accordingly. In fact, don't expect a fully revised schedule until the security situation becomes clearer.
Bookmark the official CBSE website and check it regularly. Your school will notify you directly as soon as new dates are confirmed.
This is a developing situation. We will update this article as soon as CBSE shares more information.
